The Anti-Wow!
Hi everyone --
I've been feeling great about the new me -- 91 lbs gone since my pre-op visit, wearing "regular" clothes, etc. (Maybe I'll even think about putting my picture up!
I've even had people pass me in the halls at work and not recognize me. But today I had the ultimate "anti-wow". I was on another floor in our building and saw a colleague who said "Hi Alex! When are you having that weight loss surgery?" OUCH! I guess it's a good reminder that I still have a ways to go (at least another 40 lbs!) Fortunately, I'm surrounded by colleagues who are supportive and were ready to give me positive support! And I can always come here and celebrate Wow! with everyone else!
Alex
How anyone could NOT notice a 91 pound loss is beyond me! Does this person need glasses maybe? And I'm wondering.....was it a guy or a girl? Men notice bodies right off, but some women don't (unless it was a catty comment designed to make you say "ouch"!) Either way, you have every right to be proud of your accomplishment so far and please don't let that anti-wow get to ya! (hugs)
Donna
wow 91 pounds! you are awesome!
i had a doctor's appointment with my gynocologist the other day and some elderly lady asked me when I was having my baby... that was my anti-wow people. I just looked at her in disbelief and said "uh do i look pregnant". i'm sure i gave her a lot of attitude. it pissed me off because if I can see how good I look now I can't beleive that some lady would think I'm pregnant! i don't even have much of a belly!
sometimes people are intentionally ******** we just have to be big (for lack of a better word) enough to get over it!
it's nice to have supportive people in my life, but I don't depend on them. even my closest friends have said jacked up things to me throughout my journey.
anyway... i guess that's my 2 cents!
ALEX don't you for one second get a negative thought about yourself ...91 LBS IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! IF SOMEONE SAID THAT... THEY ARE OBVIOUSLY EITHER IGNORANT OR JUST MEAN!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN NOT EVEN PHATHOM SOMEONE NOT NOTICING YOUR WEIGHT LOSS..........I SAY TO H..L WITH THEM!!!!YOU'RE ROCKING GIRL.....KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!
AND MICHELLE..........GIRL YOU PREGNANT???? THERE IS NO WAY THAT YOU EVEN GIVE A HINT THAT YOU LOOK PREGANT......GIRL YOU ARE ROCKIN SIZZLIN' I SWEAR PEOPLE ARE JUST MEAN AND/OR IGNORANT....OR .........MAYBE SHE JUST THOUGHT BECAUSE OF YOUR YOUNG AGE AND AT THE GYNO OFFICE YOU MUST BE PREGNANT, WHO KNOWS BUT YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL AND TINY!!!
Hmmmmm, sounds like an ass Alex! or not observant at all. Some people just don't notice things like that and may have heard you were having it and not remembered how you looked before. Who knows, but an idiotic thing to say regardless! I really don't know how someone can miss 91 lbs....that's almost a whole person! Well, it is one of the Ashley twins as someone put it once. LOL
I would have probably said something like...."Oh, I don't qualify for the surgery anymore since I've already lost 91 lbs!, but hey....you have a great day." That would have made him/her feel like an idiot as it should be.
and Michelle, I'm sure the elderly lady just thought because you were at the gyn's office, you must be expecting and wanted to share your excitement or something.
Have a GREAT day girls!
Pam
