EXERCISE??? Or am I alone here. I have been SO neglectful of this. I work 10-12 hours a day with an hour and a half round trip commute. Then get home to two boys (3 if you count my husband)...and don't take time for myself. I have tomorrow off for my 3 month check-up, and am going to a gym not far from work to see about joining. It's a circuit training gym like Curves. Kick me in the butt, please. I know I need to do this. I'm down 55 lbs, but know it could be 70 if I had been exercising the whole time. Jeannie

I joined a gym 2 weeks ago, and try to go every day to at least walk the treadmill and lift weights on the circuit machines 3 days a week. Some days I'm too tired or too busy, so I try to make sure I at least get some form of exercise every day. Like today, I missed the gym, so I told my husband (like an idiot) "don't mow the lawn honey, I'll do it". So that was my exercise for the day (more like 3 days). Just make sure you break a sweat and get the heart rate up every day, even if you don't lift weights or run on a treadmill. Donna

Those words will not come out of my mouth!! LOL! Of course, then too, we're in Maine, so lawn mowing is over for the year!! I have some great exercise DVDs...but getting the living room to myself for 45 minutes doesn't happen. Thank you for the encouragement. I need to get busy! Jeannie

I used to have a long commute so I feel for you. Is there anything you can do at lunch? Even walking a little might help. Are there steps you can take at work? Park far far far away? I'm a tax accountant so I've already decided that I'm just going to have to schedule some gym time this winter. Not having time to exercise helped me get fatter. But I am nervous about this winter. could hubby start helping more with dinner so you could do something then? good luck! judi

Thank you for the help, Judi. I appreciate your ideas. I don't get a lunch break. It's wolf something down while I do paperwork in the office (I'm a restaurant manager...gotta love salary!) I'm hoping that I like this new gym. It's close to work, so I could go on the way home. If I join, I'll make myself a promise that I leave at 430 at least 3 times a week to go to the gym. I am usually there till 530 or 6. Hubby can't really help in the dinner department much, but I could be better about using my crock pot. That way it would be ready when they are. I was at an all day meeting last Wednesday. Sitting all day killed me! We finally had a break, and I left the meeting room and walked briskly up and down the hall till the meeting resumed. They probably thought I'd lost my mind, but I had to MOVE!!! Thanks again for your help. I can use all I can get!! Jeannie

Hi Jeannie, i try to walk brisk for about 2-3 miles everyday if i can, however i am a realtor and most of the time i personally don't get home until 8 pm alot of nights during the day i try to squeeze it in if i can but ususally i have enough time to but not enough time to go back home and take a shower.....so alot of weeks it ends up being 2 to 3 times a week i get my walk in......so i do like i read another post i read i park far away from things, and when i show houses i make sure i always walk the property lines LOL some of the people don't like that but oh well we are walking it..LOL i am thinking about joining curves and maybe starting out real early in the morning i should do my walk then..I DON'T KNOW....LOL.............. good luck!! If lawn mowing season is done for the year, then leaf raking is about to start..wee!! Just kidding, but I was meaning that going to a gym isn't the only form of exercise you can get. I walk my dog every evening with hubby after dinner as the sun is setting. Sometimes I'll wash the car by hand (now THAT is a workout!) Sometimes just crawling around in one of our storage closets organizing things, or the days I mop the floors or scrub the bathroom down....those are all things that make me sweat more than any gym workout! Sometimes I don't do anything more than the walk in the evening, and thats fine too. Just do what you can, get inventive! Remember wax on, wax off? It's the same principle, accomplishing two things at once. Good luck and let us know how it goes! Donna
