Slow Loser
Is anyone else from June a slow loser? I am 2 months out and have only lost 37 pounds. Yes, it feels wonderful and clothes are definitely loose but when I see other posts it seems that a lot of people are losing a lot faster than I am. Just curious as to if maybe I should do more exercise. I am trying to get in 30 minutes of walking a day. Maybe I should try to do it twice a day? It is so hard with kids, work, etc.

Julie: I am right with you. My surgery was the 26th and I've lost 36 pounds to date. On my profile I copied an avg weight loss chart someone had posted that made me feel better.
I also took a look at Haven's profile, she posted monthly weights and her 3rd month was phenomenal but after that she averaged 8 lbs a month. I think she was a lightweight but it made me feel better.
So, I get discouraged too but have tried to pump up my water and protein. This weekend I"m gonna put on my hubby's heart monitor and see if the biking I am doing is getting my heart rate up. His came with a nike watch, you might want to try it.
Walking alone might not be bumping your heart rate anymore, you might need to walk faster or something.
good luck, lets hang in there! (hopefully we'll all get there in the end!)

I have lost 38 lbs in 2 months. I lost 25 on the 2 week pre-op liquid diet - so a total of 63 but only 38 since surgery. I would say your right on track. People lose differently - and men tend to lose faster. Hang in there, I try to remind myself I didn't gain this weight in 6 months, so its going to take longer than that to get it all off.
Hello Julie! I have felt the same way as you. But now I read on here and we all seem to be doing about the same. I am down clothes sizes and have had my wow moments... and lots more energy.
But I had high hopes of a profound loss. As I told the Dr. and nut. that I planned on wakeing up from surgery 100 pounds thinner.
Keep up the good work. Alice
I think you are doing a GREAT job! First of all, don't compare to others... a lesson I've been told and had to learn myself. Everyones body is different, but it sure looks like you are right on track. If you are getting this from the Monday Weigh in, remember, this is TOTAL weight loss, pre-surgery loss and post surgery loss together. You loss is similar to most others since surgery. Here's my loss tracker so you can see where I was...you are actually ahead of me.

I thought I was a slow loser too. Like Pam said, we're counting the weight we lost pre-op, since it was done the non-surgical way, either all liquid diet, or old fashioned sweating and dieting, and it was hard work. It all counts! I've lost 40 pounds since my surgery on 6/22, and 70 pounds total since I started this journey. At my 2 months out date I had lost exactly 37 pounds.
But everyone does lose at a different pace, just like we all gained at a different pace and in different places! I'm one of the unlucky ones that gained 90% of my fat in my belly. That area makes it so hard on my heart...and much harder to lose. People who gain it all in the butt and thighs have less of a strain on the heart, and can tend to lose it a little quicker. See? It really isn't important to compare yourself to anyone else! The fact that you are losing quicker now than you ever have before, THAT'S what is important
Not to mention, that if you do lose slow...it gives your skin a chance to catch up and you might not have to deal with as much loose skin as the faster losers. It's all in the way you look at things. Good luck Julie!
