I watch cooking shows all the time! I think it is because I am bored and cant wait to go back to work! (I am a teacher and start back in 2 weeks) I am obsessed with Rachel Ray $40 in day... and I love Paula Dean. The thing is now when I watch Paula I kinda get disgusted at all the butter she uses! My mind has totally transformed to watch for all the added fat! LOL Beth

I teach too. We start next week with our students, and have started back this week training, setting up our classes, and me grabbing art supplies. Good luck...with your school year. That paula is as sweet as pumpkin pie but her use of butter makes smoking look healthy.

I enjoy watching Rachel Ray, and I also watch the Iron Chef on the Food Network sometimes. I do it to get ideas about how I can make something low sugar or low fat, like you said. I can't necessarily eat the thing they make, but I love to experiment in the kitchen and see what stuff I can come up with. I'm obsessed with having the meals of my new life taste as good as from my old life. I always used to think "If it tastes really heavenly, it's bad for you"....well thats basically true, so now I'm trying to come up with stuff that tastes heavenly, and is good for me! Donna

Bill and Beth - What do you teach (grade and subject)? Teaching is such a hard job - despite the summer vacation (if you get it). No such thing as down time during school hours! The energy of grade schoolers and the hopes of high schoolers are so energizing. Middle school...hmmm..."the difficult years"! I have always LOVED cooking shows! I've been a single mom of a son who did't like anything, then an empty nester for a looooong time and I still loved to try out the TV recipes. Barefoot Contessa is one of my favorites. Rachel Ray's $40 a Day is also good - I even when to a restaurant in Amsterdam she recommended and it was GOOOOOD! Reality shows -- American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, and Top Chef are about it for me. Many of the ones Bill and Crystal mentioned I've never heard of! I'm still mourning the loss of Raymond and Friends! Love Two and a Half Men. Can't get into Scrubs or How I Met Your Mother. CSI anything and Law and Order anything rock. I spend waaaaay too much time with the TV on. I need a hobby!!!

I really don't get time off. I work as an illustrator and graphic designer, as well as edit a local magazine on top of teaching. My co-workers think I'm insane, but there is always so much I want to do. I also believe personally that if I'm going to teach art I need crediblity...which means actually doing it. I teach high school. I forgot to mention the The Most Dangerous Catch as one of my favorite shows. The history channel is one of my favorites channels.

I've been teaching middle school now for 8 years. I have taught 6th,7th, and 8th grade. Most of my experience is in 8th grade. I am teaching LA and reading this year but my favorite to teach is math. I usually dont have the summers off. I take classes or work in other capacities for the district but this summer I decided to take the whole summer to get used to my new life. I'm going insane! I cant wait for school to start! LOL I like Two and a half men but rarely get a chance to watch it. I am addicted to Big Brother! This season isnt as good as the previous ones but I really enjoy all the drama! LOL

I love cooking shows...and to actually cook. I have been cooking for my family despite the fact I still can't eat anything solid. I didn't cook for about the 1st week and a half, but hten I realized I missed cooking ALMOST as much as eating. My surgeon requires a liquid diet for 6 weeks after surgery and mine was 7/23/07. I have taught Junior High (6th and 8th grade) for 8 years as well. I teach American History, which I love. Needless to say I am adddicted to the history channel and the discovery channel. i love when they apply science to history. I also LOVE the history detectives on PBS. We go back Monday and I am so ready. It will get my mind off the fact that I have lived off of Carnation Instant Breakfast for a MONTH! I will admit that I have lost 30 lbs in less than a month, but come on! Chewing would be nice now and then. Did your doctors make you stay on a liquids onlt diet that long? Oh and he doesn't allow portein shakes for hydration purposes. Just creamed soups (which I won't eat canned soup- I am a bit of a food snob- so I cook my own and eat the same thing for four days straight), yogurt smoothies and Carnation Instant Breakfast ( NSA- of course). RYN 7/23/07 30 lbs lost!
