Nutrition visit today

So I saw my nutritionist today, and she told me....to increase my fat and carb intake just a little bit. I was like "WHAT?" Yep she said I'm not taking in enough fat to be able to absorb my fat soluable vitamins because my body isn't going to borrow it from my fat stores, it has to come from nutritionally provided fat. She made sure to stress I should get that fat from sources like fish, cheese and maybe slightly more olive oil in my cooking. She also said that I need to bump up my carb intake so I won't stay in ketosis. Now I know there's a big controversy out there over whether ketosis is safe to stay in long term or not so I'm not sure what to believe on this. I'll bump up my carbs a little because she said I should, but I'm watching it carefully. And lastly, she said my calorie and protein intake, along with my fluids are perfect, woot! I got something right! Donna

Oops, forgot to post the numbers she gave me, in case you were interested lol: Calories between 600 and 800 (which is where I am) Protein between 60 and 65 (which is where I am) Fat between 20 and 25 grams (which I've been way under) Carbs between 90-100 grams (which I've been about half that)

Interesting...The carbs look really high. Checked my nutritionist's instructions and it says 35 g carb, but then I'm at 100 g protein so WHO KNOWS!!!????

Donna: I saw my NUT today too! (gee our surgery dates must be close lol) Mine was with yours on calories and protein. She said to shoot for about 800 calories and 55 - 65 g protein. I took my fitday reports to her and asked her about the carbs and fat and she wasn't too worried about those at this point. I am taking Optisource though so maybe that is why. She stresses to take some "good" oil and I asked her if almonds were the best. she said all nuts were ok but walnuts were the best. go figure. she made me feel a lot better, i ate like a pig Tues & Wed and my calories were around 700. yay for good news for you and me! judi
