ok so I suck at this whole high protien healthy eating crap (suprise suprise, right??) I have always hated going grocery shopping and now I hate it even more that I cant eat that much........... I would basically rather not eat anything at all................... like for example all I had yesterday was a taco from jack in the box............ I AM getting WAY better at taking my vitamins but I just cant seem to get food in...........do you guys think this is just a stage? At this rate of like ZERO protien a day I guess I can kiss my new hair GOODDBYE!! : (

Hang in there Katie. Pick out a few meals that you like and make a list before going to the store. If you have a list you can go in, get what you need, and get out. If you have a plan then you know beforehand exactly what you need, you don't have to wander around the store trying to decide. Several of us post our menu's on here every day - take a look and get some ideas! Definitely eat more - even if its only protein shakes to get that protein and your liquids in. You'll end up in worst shape than just bald if you don't!

Yeah I agree with Buffy. I make a list when I go to the store. It makes it easier. I'm not really feeling too hungry but I eat because when I don't I feel blah! Take care of yourself and try to do better with the protein intake... My NUT doesn't want us on protien shakes, so I soley get the protien from food... I know how hard that can be...

Are you getting your water in? Have you tried special K protien water? It has 5 grams of protien, and isn't that bad tasting. What do you like to eat, maybe some of us can help you out with suggestions? Fish, seafood, pasta, cheese, yogart, and just plain milk. I have several bariatric cookbooks, would love to help you out.

Since I love all food (which is what got me into this situation in the first place!), I love to experiment and try new stuff. I've got a ton of recipes that I've collected from web sites and from people on OH since I've been coming here that I can email you if you want. There's got to be some high protein stuff you can try that you'll love. Shoot me a pm with your email if you want them ok? Donna

you know I have found this to be more fun than anything, I went shopping last night. tommorow I am 6 weeks out, I have found that I love chicken breast sliced with some laughing cow cheese, and then I got to get cereal (kashi) love it. and I buy nothen but turkey fishes and chicken, they have chicken breast that are frozen and already flavored like garlic or mesquite ones just throw them in the broiler for a few min and you got dinner and lunch the next day, its easy just be creative, hummus on pita chips is really good or on a veggie cracker, just hit the health food isle there are alot of choices you just have to mix and match and STAY AWAY FROM JACK N THE BOX. I dont know about you but i just got the bill for 50 grand for this surgery taco bell and jack n the box aint worth messing this up, and I am a stylist and you dont want to loose your hair, bald and fat and unhealthy would really suck.

you might want to call your nutritionist. I just met with mine for my 6 week checkup and she wants us to call if we have issues/need suggestions. on days i don't get many veggies she wants me to uggh try 4 oz. of V8. I'm gonna try bless her heart. Otherwise you got some really good tips here. I've been stunned that by using Fitday I see which food gives me more protein bang for my buck. Hang in there! judi

I have found a nice way to get some extra protein in and a bit of fruit. I am loving Greek yogurt with a summer fruit "sauce" For the "sauce" (for want of a better word) i get a mix of berry fruits strawberries Rasberry's or other berrys and put them in a pan over a low heat with some splenda (to taste i add 1 teaspoon) the fruit releases loads of moisture and softens down really well. The greek yogurt is a good source of protein and the fruit always helps its my nightly snack :P

Katie, My surgeon and Nut said to eat 3 meals a day. kinda hard to do when you never feel hungry right? Now I eat by the clock. A protein shake for breakfast--after my coffee! Between 12-12:30 it's lunchtime and dinner at 6 PM. I have another protein shake before bed. Good to see you're getting your vitamins in, that's a step right? You can do this..you have already committed to the tool by having the surgery. I believe in you

Ok, my surgery twin, I know exactly what you mean. It is a chore just to choke anything down. However, we have to keep trying. I just don't think I have a nice enough shape to my head to pull off the bald look. I hate protien drinks. Every single one of them makes me gag and want to hurl. I finally found something I can do, though. Buy some unflavored whey protein. I put it in sugar free hot chocolate and find I can get at least two cups down a day. I have one when I get up in the morning and one before bed. That's 34 grams of protein. Then I try to get the rest in with food. You just need to make sure that the water for the hot chocolate is not boiling or the protein mix will curdle and lump. Just make it really warm. Good luck Katie!
