Slow loser feeling down...
Jeannie,
I think I'm with the majority here.... you need to eat more often. Its really hard to get all the calories and protein we need ... especially in one meal, considering the small amount of food that we consume. You might be surprised by how little calories and protein you're actually taking it, if you tracked it. I'd suggest using fitday.com or any of the others to track your food consumption for the day or several days and see exactly where you're at. 31 lbs is by no means a small amount, especially since you're obviously losing inches. Like the man said... this is not a race, we're all in the journey together. So chin up, get moving and eat at least the 3 times a day. You're doing awesome...

Someone on the RNY board posted that it takes eating 3500 calories more than you burn to make a pound of fat. I don't think we eat 3500 calories in a week much less a day where the body typically burns 2000 calories just being alive! For the most part, our bodies have been tossed into shock with this surgery. It has been accustomed to eating way more than the 500 or 800 calories a day we're giving it now. It tries to hold on to the excess fat because it knows we aren't giving it what we were before. This is how it was explained to me when I started worrying about my slow weight loss ,and the fact that I'd gain a pound or two once every few weeks. It will come Jeannie, try not to worry. I don't know about you, but before surgery I know there was no way I'd ever lose 11 pounds in a month! I was lucky if I lost 5 hehe. (hugs) Hang in there!

Jeannie,
I agree- and cried when I read Crystal B's reply. I too was feeling so down I wrote to Jennifer yesterday and she really helped pick me back up. I was in the SCALE mode watching and waiting for it to fall....... and it hadn't in about a week or so. My brain knows I have lost weight, but my clothes and sizes aren't falling like others on the board. I was getting very discouraged. I know it is hard when you see yourself every day... but make it a point to see an old friend that hasn't seen you in a few weeks and they will boost your confidence. My principal saw me last night, not seeing me since before surgery, and she was floored.... she was thrilled and made me feel like a princess... I applaud your efforts and want you to know that you are doing great.
I am raising my calories as of today to see if I can help my body reboost the loss phase. Just know we are all here for you!

Do not feel alone. I lost 19 pounds in the first 2 weeks and depending on the day 10 pounds in the 4 weeks since then. I have also lost in pants size. I went from a 28 to a 20. That is what I try to stay focused on. I can be discouraging but I try to focus on the fact that at least I a losing and not gaining.
