Would love your input
Hi Everyone,
I've been lurking on here for a few weeks and reading everyone's posts. They really are so helpful. You are all truly an inspiration!
I have decided to post today because I would love your input and opinion. I had my surgery on 6/27 and I have to say that I have been a happy camper since. Aside from dealing with the realization that I'm a big food addict, I just don't feel well. I mean, I just don't feel well almost on the time. I feel nauseous most of the time, and so get afraid to eat anything. But if I do throw up, I get the "foamies," as I saw someone call it.
I keep hearing everywhere people say, "I'm so glad I did this. It was the best decision I've ever made," and I'm desperate to feel that way, but it's hard to do when you feel so crappy all the time.
Has anyone been through this? Does anyone have any idea why I might be feeling so badly all the time? And help you could give would be MORE than appreciate.
Thank you so much and to all of you, keep up the great work. You never know who you are inspiring!
Stephanie
Hi Stephanie!
We had our surgery the same day! Have you had any bloodwork done since the surgery? I wonder if your deficient in something and its pulling your body down. Have you talked to your surgeon about it? Also, are you making sure your getting enough protein and water? If your body isn't getting enough protein it will go into starvation mode and that means cutting off energy, etc.
Best of luck and keep us posted!

hi stephanie: are you getting enough water? From what I've seen, it is pretty common to feel like crap and wonder what you did for 6-8 weeks.
I'd think your nausea should have gone away by now.
When you pinch the back of your hand does the skin go right back down? (dehydration test)
Are you newly lactose intolerant? (I think I am, now doing lactaid - don't wanna know!)
If you still feel like crap, I think you should talk to your doctor. My date is within 1 day of yours and I get tired when I overdo but don't feel nauseous.
Take care of yourself!

I also had surgery on the 27th. I'm feeling pretty good. Have you talked to your surgeon or your PCP? Don't let it go on too long. I know I've seen a lot of posts on here from other people not feeling very good. I don't know what else to tell you other than I hope this doesn't last and you find out what's going on. Everything goes through different experiences after surgery. I don't think any two of us have had the same problems. There are a few things that have made me fill icky, but I've only thrown up once. I feel very fortunate and it worries me when I hear about people feeling ill all the time because that's exactly why i had surgery so I wouldn't feel like crap all the time. Please keep us posted!

Oh Stephanie....I'm so sorry that you are feeling so icky. I sure hope that it stops soon and you feel better. I would certainly make sure that you aren't dehydrated. When you do get dehydrated, you do feel nauseous. Make sure that you are getting at least 60 oz of fluid in every day. If you haven't already talked to your surgeons office or your PCP, I would do that soon. They may have suggestions you could follow.
Keep posting hon...we love to have you here. Let us know if you find out anything.
Take care of you!

Stephanie - dittos to what everybody has already said....water, protein, blood work. Plus, depending on your situation, hormones may play a part also. I had to get a hormone shot about 2 weeks after surgery.
That being said, I have to say this is the first week I have felt 'well', or almost back to normal. It was a tough 6 weeks!
Stephanie:
I am right there with you. I am so nauseated, I can't keep water down. I called the nurse practioner last week and she ordered carafate. It coats your stomach. I felt better for a day or two. Now it's back again and with a vengence! Now, I am armed with compazine. I took it a little while ago and feel somewhat better for the first time in days. I am hoping to eat a few bites and drink some water tonight! Call your doctor!!! There are meds to help you get through this.
Hope this helps!
