The Blessings of Tomato Soup
I've seen quite a few of you having digestion issues or regularity issues on this board. Well, I have found for myself that tomato soup seems to help keep my system on track. I would recommend though a good quality tomato soup. For example, instead of the cambell's regular tomato soup I would recommend the Cambell's Select Tomato Basil Garlic. I was worried about the sugar content in the soup, but I think the acids in the tomatoes counter-act the sugar in my system and besides I never eat anywhere near the whole amount of soup anyway. For you Floridians there is a great chain restaurant called Crispers which has rocking soup selections, including a fantastic Tomato Basil. It is kind of fun learning to eat to live rather than living to eat. As of last week I have lost 70 pounds which completely blows my mind. Oh well, good luck to everyone and keep up with sharing all your stories and experiences too.
First off congrates to both of you!!! I have only lost 48 and have been stalled the last 3 days 2nd I have been craving Tomato soup since surgery but have been affraid of the sugar content. I think I might try a little at home some time, I guess if I react bad to it I will know not to eat it again! I guess I have been lucky and have'nt had Dumping yet and I don't want to either.

There is a fantastic book called the Real Skinny on Weight Loss Surgery by Julie M Janeway, Karen J. Sparks and Randal S. Baker M.D. In it they give lots of adivce for pre-op and post-op. One of the things I read was that tomatoe based products though having sugar seemed to not affect them. Of course, anything that we try should be in moderation. I'm not advising tomato soup chugging contests... though that could be funny to watch. Also food intolerances vary from person to person. However, I found most food charts that I have seen say we can have ketchup. Now I haven't had a reason to eat ketchup yet, but a little tomato soup now and then has worked wonders for me. By the way 48 pounds is great! Think of the amount of time you lost that weight and compare it to what was going on prior to surgery. You will feel better in no time.
