Tonight is our 5 year anniversary and we are going out to dinner and a movie. I am six weeks out today and this is our first "Date" since the surgery. We have planned to go to a restaurant called Arnies. I looked online and thought I might be able to do a turkey-bacon panini. I would take most of the bread off. What do you think? It has turkey-bacon-cheese-lettuce-tomato. I'll probably ask for no bacon and it doesnt come with mayo. Do you think at 6 weeks I would handle it? My nut has cleared me for all foods. Thanks for your input! Beth

Well my doc doesn't recommend any lettuce or ruffage or fruits/veggies with skin/seeds until I move to the next phase of the diet I'm on which starts 3 1/2 months after surgery. I feel like all of you have a more easy going diet than what I'm on. I'm only supposed to be eating 1/4 c of food 3x per day until I go to the next phase in about 3 months. I ate shrimp which isn't on my okay food list either, but had no problems. They don't want us testing the waters with food until the next phase, but I'm running out of ideas for things to eat. I'm bored with lunch meat. Happy Anniversary.. sorry for my rant.

Thanks for the info! My nut said I could try lettuce. I had a little for lunch with some chicken to see if I could tolerate and it has been good so far. Don't worry about ranting... I know how frustrating it can be! Thanks for your reply! Beth

I would be careful trying something new if you are planning on doing other things afterwards. You don't want to get sick at dinner and not feel like going to the movie. Sorry to say that - but if you get sick it can take a couple hours before your feeling well again, sometimes longer. Maybe stick to soup. Most places have a soup of the day or even soup on the menu. Happy Anniversary!

I have to agree with Buffy. As much as it's fun to experiment and try new things, you don't want to try it and then find out it doesn't agree with you if you have plans for after dinner as well. Unless you can go to an earlier show first and dinner after? Either way, happy Anniversary and have a great time!

Thanks to all that responded! We had a good time! My DH decided he wanted pizza so we went to this little mom and pop shop (authentic italian pizza) and our bill was $10 LOL He had a pop and I had water, then we ordered garlic knots (kind of garlic rolls) I had a bite of the outside crust of one. Then we ordered a personal mushroom pizza (of which we took 1/2 home) I had the toppings off of a piece and he had 2 pieces. LOL Isn't that funny- what a cheap date I am now! We saw the movie the Bourne ultimatum and loved it! I even had a few bites of his popcorn- no butter of course. We had a nice night. I think I enjoyed the fact that I can cross my legs again at the theater! I think I smiled all the way through just because of that! I was a little nervous about the food consumtion but didnt have any problems and it felt nice to be part of the world again! Thanks for all the support! Beth
