I went to my surgeon yesterday
Like Crystal, it was re-affirming that I am doing okay.
At first there was a visit with the NUT with 4 of us that had surgery within a week of each other. It was really interesting to compare. Some doing really well, some not so well. But I felt better because I was in the middle. Also found it great that all of us had not felt we had lost enough weight since surgery. The lady with the highest weight loss was 29 lbs out, and she thought it wasn't enough! (I hold at 19).
Then on to my doc who though I had lost five years off of my face (I admit, the jowls are disappearing). That is always a good way to start a visit.
He also challenged me to go to Curves...even gave me a certificate where I pay $29 for two months, and if I go 3x week for the next 2 months I get my $29 back.
Plus...he has a Gala for all of his weight loss patients every year. This year is in November. He said he bet if I exercised and kept on the track I am on, that I could get down to 250 by then. Being 299 now, that seems like heaven! And he told me if I made that goal, he would buy me the 'adult beverage' of my choice at the gala. I am a martini girl and have missed them so far in this journey, so I am psyched!
I just think it was affirming to know that although the last 6 weeks have been a struggle, it would appear the worst is over.
wow you're doctor seems cool. I really like my doctor but he doesn't do anything that cool!
Be careful at Curves! I know a lot of people who have hurt themselves there (not just overweight people either). I was at physical therapy for my arthritis and the technician there told me that a lot of patients she has are from Curves... Just be careful!!!
It sounds like you had a great visit and I think you're doing great! Everyone loses at their own pace, just like the people who try to lose weight non-surgically. I've been trying really hard not to compare myself to others who are losing weight faster than me. Weight has never come off me easily, but the weight I have lost so far, NEVER would have come off at the rate it is, without this wonderful gift lol.
Did you go to Dr. Todd? I was going to go to him about 4 years ago, and he was the only surgeon doing it back then, but my insurance refused to pay and I certainly couldn't, so it went on the back burner for a while. I've heard he is a great bariatric surgeon, but I've also heard a few more surgeons are doing it now.
Anyways, keep plugging away and this time next year, we'll all be comparing bathing suit pictures!
