Hey everybody! Do any of you get migraines or have any other pain like from arthritis or other ailments? What are you taking? I was taken off all of my meds and I've had a migraine for the last few days and can't seem to shake it... Normally I'd take meds that I'm no longer allowed to have (Lodine, Motrin, and other Nsaids). Now I don't know what to take. Tylonol doesn't work for me. I can take vicoden for my back, but since I have a headache I can't take it because it makes my headaches worse. oh what to do... any suggestions!

Ouch! I don't know what to tell you to take. I suffered from migraines prior to surgery, but thank God I have not had one since. I would suggest getting a massage. That is the only thing that helps me know. The only thing I use when I feel a slight headache come is a chilled eye pad from Beauty control's spa line. I lay down and put them on my eyes for 20 mins and it relieves the tension. Good luck! Nanc

My arthritis and migranes have not bothered me since surgery. I am glad to say that I have taken tylenol only 4 times since surgery, and my lortab on the day I came home. I wish I had more to offer.

I've been taking (infrequently) darvocet for extreme knee pain (like after exercising and to get to sleep) prescribed by the orthopedic surgeon when I told him no aspiriin-like meds or NSAIDS. Two Tylenol handle the morning residual pain. I have percoset for after surgery. After healing I expect (hope!) Tylenol will be enough to replace the NSAID I was take pre-WLS. The past 2 weeks I've had headaches beginning late in the day. I haven't had headaches since menopause. I'm hoping I just need a new contact lens prescription and have eye dr appt Saturday. I'm not taking anything for the headaches. Don't want to even think about what I would do with a migraine. Owwwww!

Thanks everyone for your input. I only get migraines when my neck hurts. I have arthritis and spinal degeneration in my neck and lower back. My back/neck didn't bother me for a long time and then I stopped taking the Lodine... I was okay for a while then when i was in the hospital for my surgery, the bed caused my back to start bothering me. now that had lead to a migraine which i've had on and off for the last few days.. i had a massage on Monday evening which was enough to stop the migraine for a day or so but now it's starting to rear its ugly head...

Knock on wood I have not had one in a while, but I take Imitrex. It is available in a nasal spray form. within 30 minutes I am migrane free! I suggest you call your surgeon or PCP to see if this is an option for you. Good luck and feel better! Jen
