Stricture

Frustrated, and a little concerned. I finally called the RD today. She thinks I have a stricture or stenosis. Anyone had this? I can barely eat or drink without and I can only get in like 30oz of water a day and 3-4 little eraser size bites of food per meal and I still feel like I will . I have been extreamly weak and tired. She had me stop all my pills and vitamins for 2 weeks and if I can't eat or drink more than what I can now in 3-4 days I am supposed to call her back. I only sip my water (a lot of times it still comes back up) and I take little bites and chew chew chew and I don't drink 1 hour after eating...etc. I'm at my wits end, any advice or prayers would be a blessing right now. Thank you! Surgery 6/21/07

I have not had this, although I certainly know the feeling (see my post about not having a good day!). I have heard though, that a simple endoscopy procedure can fix a stricture and it's not an operation or anything. They sedate you, put the endoscope down your throat with a little balloon type thing on the end, and inflate the balloon to widen the opening so food will pass through again. It is usually caused by excess scar tissue forming where they rerouted your intestine to the bottom of your pouch. Naturally I hope that you don't have to go through that, but if it ends up that you do, I've heard a lot people say it was no big deal when they had it fixed, and felt immediately better afterwards. (hugs) Donna
