Tough discussion on bodily functions

I've been told before, the only stupid question is one not asked. So here it goes: How's everyones urine output? Or how is your BM? I do realize that not as much is going in, but I rarely do either these days. Maybe pee 2 x a day, and would be lucky for a BM every 3rd day (unless something didn't agree with me..then more often). I am trying to increase my water input...probably up to 32 oz a day now. Is this concerning to anyone but me? Or is this pretty normal?

One thing I can tell you is you need to at least double your water intake, that's why you're not peeing enough. I wasn't getting enough water in the beginning either and I didn't go enough and when I did it was dark yellow and strong smelling (tmi I know, sorry). Anyways, we're supposed to get a minimum of 64 oz a day, and as soon as I started hitting that mark, I noticed a big improvement. As far as BM's go, they're small and I go about every other day. Hope that helps! Donna

How do you drink 64 oz in a day. I sip all day long and can't do it. What is the secret?

I agree, try really hard to get more water in. Remember sugar free popsicles count as liquids too. Even getting my water in tho, i don't go as much. I think I have less fat pressing on my bladder and maybe go like a normal person vs. a seemingly pregnant person now. good luck, sip as often as you can. I seem to be able to take larger drinks of water than some of you. Everyone is so different.

Hey Kim. 32 oz isn't enough water, you really need to work on getting more. I asked my surgeon before surgery what he considered a sip, he said a small shot glass. That helped, because my thought of a sip was very small. I was a big water drinker before. It did take me a few weeks to get up to 60 or more oz a day, but I did it. I have to have my water bottle in hand all the time and sip, sip, sip. I also take in at least 20 oz when I go for my 2-3 mile evening walk. As far as the BM's I'm every 2-3 days right now. Big change from before, but I dont' feel constipated, so it's okay. Take care and if you start to feel dizzy and just not over all feeling well, you might want to go get checked to see if you are dehydrated. Pam

I get at least 64 oz of water a day and only go about 4 times a day. I used to go at least 2x an hour! I have a BM every day. OK TMI here--they are a greenish brown color. I take 2 Flintstone complete vitamins a day, vit C, calcium citrate, and iron and B-12 sublingual every other day.

I go pee several times per day, but I think I'm getting more water than 64 oz. I drink about 4 20oz bottles of water per day. I'm not having any trouble taking a regular gulp, I just don't drink around meals... My BMs are like baby BMs... Very little of it and greenish brown in color (i'm sure you don't want to know that). I was going almost everyday when I was on mushy food (pudding, yogurt, creamy soups) but now that I'm on solids (cheese, lunch meat, softer meats (fish, chicken, beef, etc), crackers, etc) I'm not going as much. Now I think I go every other day.. I'm not feeling constipated either.

Hey Kim, I'm a little late, since I was pretty much offline yesterday, but I have an answer, too. I agree with Pamela and the others about your water, and walking helps me a LOT. Plus, I love prunes, and my doctor says I can eat them now. I eat four bite sized prunes per day, and everything is going quite smooth now, if you know what I mean. I have always been a multiple BMs per day person. Since surgery, I'm down to once a day, and was having quite a bit of difficulty until I started getting more water and more exercise, and the little prunes are wonderful for me too. They just remind my body what it's supposed to be doing without causing the other extreme. If you don't like them, try something else natural that has the same type of effect. My doc suggested fiber supplements if necessary, too. Good luck! Cindy
