I'm 5 weeks out tomorrow.. the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th weeks, felt pretty good. My energy was returning. I had more stamina.. now, the 5th week I feel like I've just gotten over the flu, but never was sick. My heart races when I walk from the parking lot to my office. My stomach hurts, not the "i've eaten too much" or "i didn't chew well enough" hurt, but I can 'feel' my stomach.. weird. I can't eat very much. I'm so tired. When I get home at night, it takes everything I have to make it until bedtime. The last two nights, I went to bed at 6pm.. slept through the night and got up at 7am. Felt great. Untll I got to work and by the time I made it from the parking lot to my office.. it was downhill the rest of the day. Am I not getting enough protein? Is there a leak in my stomach.. what about the staples, are they leaking? What's going on with me?

Lisa, have you called your doctor?? You really need to make sure you touch base with him because no matter what anyone else may say HE IS THE DOCTOR!!! Take a lesson from me, I am a little over a month out, and I've been having nausea and throwing up (about every other day or so) and I took it for granted that it was just a matter of my being patient and with each day I would get better...WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG!!! My esophogial tube was too narrow, so I had to have an EDG or EGD (one of those) today and my doctor said I suffered needlessly... As for protein, you should be working your way up to 50grams and you should be getting no less than 64oz of fluids. BUT CALL YOUR DOCTOR!!! good luck, God bless and keep us all updated... briggie oh, by the way, if you feel like it, stop by my blog at www.jehovahroi.wordpress.com

Hi Lisa! Sorry you are feeling so yuck! You really do need to call your surgeon and just make sure that it is nothing major. It could be many things, but the question should be posed to your surgeon. Let us know as soon as you find out. Pam

Yeah you should definitely check in with your doctor. Doesn't your hospital have some sort of support line you can call? I would check in just in case it's a sign of a bigger problem. I'm feeling pretty lethargic some days as well. But then I get a burst of energy when it's time to go to bed. go figure! Anyway keep us posted on how you're doing! we're all here to listen! ~michelle

Please contact your doctor! I know that being tired is a common thing with post ops for the first few months, but the heart racing and the stomach hurting is not. Don't take chances or assume it'll fix itself. (hugs) feel better soon and let us know how it goes. Donna

Okay, apparently, I'm not getting enough protein and water. Great. So I'm back on protein shakes and water in my hand 24/7. Also, my iron was low. I was becoming anemic. So, I'm feeling much better now.. Thank God! Blessings to you all, Lisa
