Has anyone eaten any fresh fruit yet? I'm yearning for some watermelon or cantelope, but not sure if it is okay because of the sugars in them.

Hi Kimberly, my surgeon and nutritionist both said to keep away from watermelon because of the sugar content. I do know that others allow it though so you might want to check with your nutritionist Donna

ive had watermelon, cantelope and bing cherries with no problems. but you might want to try one smaaal bite of watermelon at a time in case it makes you dump! (truthfully, 2 1/2 bites filled me up anyway) on days i eat fruit as a snack i have to beef up the protein drinks though

I ate Watermelon at 2 weeks post-op. My NUT said it was a great source of water and fine to eat as long as I chewed it really well. It tasted so good that i ate it everday for almost a week.

I was told that i can have fruit, just to avoid skin and seeds. I've actually had a little nibble of watermelon and didn't have any problem... But for me, my focus has been on getting protein... everything else... I've just had a little taste of... Michelle

I had my lap rny on 6/25 and I was told today by my nutritionist and doctor that I can't have fresh vegetables or fruit for four more weeks (other than a banana). I can have canned peaches. eileen

I did some blueberries and bananas today blended with my yogurt and they went down fine. I am trying to get some foods in that well help my bowels do their thing a bit easier, and the doc said fruit is a good choice.
