My "Duh" Moment
I've been waiting for my WOW moment, but the "Duh" moment came first.
So, the weight loss is good. My recovery has been trouble-free and I was finally released for strength training in addition to the cardio I've been doing. I switched membership from the Y to the fitness center associated with the hospital where I had surgery. This week I took advantage of the new member service for a fitness evaluation, which is used to develop a fitness program to address my current status and my goals. My appt was with a 20-something male fitness instructor who is a full-time grade school physical education teacher. Nice, cute, and serious about his task. After putting me through the paces (height, weight, age, body fat measurements - the old way with calipers - push ups, sit ups, stress heart rate - while biking for 6 minutes - strength and flexibility), he plugs all my stats into his handy-dandy computerized program and solemnly tells me I'm below the norm for fitness. How shocking!!! I thought I would choke trying to keep my laugher down!
