Didn't your WLS doctor tell you what he expects your nutrition to consist of? Can't you call his office and ask for that information? The throwing up could just be remembering to chew and eat slowly, but you should check it out with the doctor. My surgery was on June 18 and here's what I'm eating: At least 1 protein shake/day (I use ProComplex which is 55 g protein) and I choose among the following for another 5 "meals" to get in 90-110 g protein and 800 calories total for the day: other protein drinks (SmarteForme or Nectar), Egg Beaters, scrambled, poached or soft-boiled eggs, non-fat cottage cheese (sorry!), low fat/low sugar yogurt, non-fat refried beans, chicken (dark meat is easier to digest), flaky fish like tilapia and moist fish like salmon, canned tuna with low-fat mayo, very small diced turkey with low-fat mayo, low-fat string cheese, extra lean ground beef (some have trouble digesting). I can also have well-cooked vegetables (remove skin/seeds), canned or fresh ripe fruit (no seeds or skin). I'm able to eat 3 oz of the meat/fish/poultry at a time within the 30 minute max recommended. I drink 6-8 cups of liquids. I expect when I go back to the nutritionist in the doctor's office in another month, she will want me to increase my calories to about 1000/day. Hope this helps, but you really should contact your WLS doctor's office. His services should have included some type of post-op nutrition counseling. Take care of yourself!

Hey Nanc! You need to let your doctors office know that you've starting throwing things up and what they were if you know that you are chewing to applesauce consistency and not eating too quickly. Also, we are here for support, so you've got a support group right here. Most surgeons programs have support groups that meet monthly or so. I would make sure they don't have one where you had your surgery. My surgery was on June 18th. Good to have you join us! Take care! Pam

Hi Nancy, I had RNY on June 6th. When i came home from the hospital I was on a soft-pureed diet. July 1st my doc said I could start eating 'normal' foods. Eggs have given me trouble since day one so I cut them out. Here is a sample of what I eat: wake up: coffee-meds breakfast: oatmeal w unflavored unjury protein powder or 1/2 c cottage cheese 1/4 c berries water 8oz protein shake 8-12 oz lunch: slice of ham or turkey with string cheese or slice of LF cheddar cheese water 8 oz protein shake 8-12 oz dinner: chicken, turkey, meatballs all made moist or dipped in gravy or ranch dressing 1tbs veggie or applesauce water 8oz protein shake 8-12 oz I use Nectar Lemon Tea, Unjury Vanilla and chocolate protein powders, and Revival Soy chocolate flavor. Go to www.bariatriceating.com to order their sample pack of proteins. Good luck! Jen
