I finally ate real food this weekend!!!!
Tomorrow will be my 6 week anniversery of RNY, and I finally got up the courage to eat real food this weekend. I went to Mimi's with my husband for lunch on saturday, and I ordered the smoky chicken encheladas from their 'small bites' section of the menu. It was fabulous. I ate the inside chicken of one of the enchaladas and a couple bites of the black beans, then I got the rest of the chicken and beans to go. I left the tortillas and letuce on the plate, and didn't feel deprived at all. For dinner we went to a friends bar-b-que and I had 1.5 riblets. The first one was tricky since I didn't chew quite well enough, but I just took a short walk and ended up feeling fine. I also tried a few potato chips, and those went down really easily (definately a potential danger food). Today we went to my parents house for lunch and I had a small amount of chicken and beef, some beans, and some cucumbers pulled out of the salad. It was so nice to be able to eat dinner with my family and not have to have a separate menu. I guess sometimes it is the little things that make us happy!
Oh...I'm longing for the day of real food. I too I'm so tired of this separate menu thing. I can totally appreciate the 'chip' addiction. I can pass up chocolate cake all day long...but give me a bag of Doritos! I actually heard of one lady to had WLS that just licked the flavoring off of the top of them!
Try some pork rinds. I found some at bariatriceating.com that you actually "pop" in the microwave and can season yourself. the 1/3 cup you put into a brown bag and pop, is a huge service, and IT HAS PROTIEN! My husband and I share the serviing. One good thing, you can pop as much or little as you want.
