prayer-incision not healing ? infection
Please pray for me, I'm three weeks out from LB and yesterday we notice some draining from my port incision (it has been slow healing) and the Dr. I work for did a culture to check for what type, if any infection is going on. While we were redressing the wound, it came open. We applied steri-strips and dressed it to keep it closed while we await the lab reports and started another round of antibiotics. I called my surgeon, but can't get in till tomorrow.
Other than my incision, I have been doing well, just haven't been posting lately.
Thanks,
Kristina B.
Well Kristina, it's nice to hear everything else has been going well for you.
I'm sorry that you are going through this with your incision. I had a spot on my
incision that had opened and was draining green ickies. I started peroxiding it
for a few days and applying Neosporin to clear it up. Sounds like yours opened
all the way?
Sending a prayer that this will clear up very quickly.
Take care of yourself and let us know how things go.
Pam
Hang in there Kristina! I too have a partially open incision at my port sight. When they started taking the staples out ( I had 6 in that incision), they took three out and decided it wasn't completely ready. So, they left the other three in and now half of the incision is wide open. It does drain for a week or week and a half. Just make sure it isn't puss or smelley. I clean mine with peroxide twice a day and keep a band-aid over it. My doctor has me on another round of antibiotics to ward off any infection. He said it looks good and will eventually heal its self from the inside out. It will probably take a couple more weeks....but no big deal. Hugs to you. Leslie
Thanks Leslie, I know from previous surgeries that this can happen, I'm just getting tired of the antibiotics, I'm on week three. They did reclose mine w/steri-strips. I just have to be patient. If this is the only problem I have then I should be grateful. Thank you and I hope you do well with yours also. I am also fortunate to work for a wound care physician, so I get a little extra attention and closer watch, (they don't want me to miss any more days of work I think, lol.)
Good Luck & Hugs,
Kristina
Hi Denise,
Pretty much, it is wait & see w/the cultures, Dr. Cernero thought it looked pretty good to him. There is no pain right now and no fever. I have to continue the antibiotics until we here back from the lab tomorrow afternoon. We did reclose it w/steri-strips, so all is well in that area.
I guess I better get back to actually working. You know when the cats away the mice will play (post).
