11 days out and need to run to walmart
So I totally need to run to walmart, has anyone drove before the 2 week limit, I am not all jacked up on pain meds or nothen I mean I still got a little pain o my left side but I need to get out this house, also wondering anyone notice more headaches, i seem to be having headaches daily and dont know why.
Hi Serena! I made sure I was off of pain meds for 3 days before I drove. You also need to be able to make quick stops if need be. From what I understand some people get headaches from the anesthesia. I didn't, but I've heard that before.
I wouldn't go too far from home right now unless someone else drives. If it's close though, go with how YOU feel.

really from the anesthesia I never thought of that, yeah it seems like i am have headaches daily, I am not to worried about the pain med thing cause I was on so much more before surgery than I am now this liquid vicoden aint nothen its just wires me but helps with my left side, i am haveing a hard time sleeping to I dont know if it is from the meds or bottled up energy that I didnt have for years but man if it wasnt for the pain on my left side id be out running like a chicken with my head cut off, anyway yeah walmart is like 20miles from me everything is 20 miles from me and the prob is when hubby gets home its already 110 outside and I am scared of dehydrating myself so I was thinking I could just run up there this morning and get it over with, I need to pick up some fish too, I am more worried about getting worn out cause a shower does it right now.
I agree with making sure you are off pain meds for at least 3 days before driving. Also, if you have issues with your belly fitting behind the wheel (like I did!) make sure nothing is going to get injured when you brake.
As for headaches, I got them daily too for about a week post op. I was told the anesthesia caused them, and liquid tylenol did wonders for not only the headache but any lingering surgical pain.
Good luck and be extra careful if you decide to drive!

Hey Serena,
I'm with Pamela. If you get exhausted taking a shower, you definitely should wait a few more days before driving. If you're really getting cabin fever, get outside and walk a little. Go really slow and easy, but it will help you get your strength back quicker. It also made me feel like I had stretched out my stiffness quite a bit in those first few days, even if I only strolled to the mailbox and back. It's a bummer you're so far away from everything, but 20 miles each way is a long trip this soon for you. I drove my brother to the airport about five days after surgery, because my pain was nearly gone by then. However, the folding up of my body in the car seat was really uncomfortable, and I was achy all day afterward, so I would suggest you wait a bit longer. Just from my experience.
Hey, about your headaches, are you getting enough water and protein--all of it? I find I'll get headaches if I don't get enough of either one in the day.
Good luck, and be careful!
Cindy
