I had surgery lap rxny . I sometimes get this feeling like ... have any of you ever ate like a big bite of bread or something and it just felt like it wasstuck this big ball of food just stuck in your throat and just goes down so slow? I feel that feeling but along with nausea and its just so many times worse then that dry food feeling. I've been wondering is that me being full or does it mean my new belly doesnt like that food or what? I have no idea when i'mhungry and wheni'mfull!

It usually means you've eaten too much or too fast, or the wrong food. Don't eat any more until the feeling subsides. Can you remember what you ate before you got the feeling? Bread? Rice? Pasta? These are 3 foods we shouldn't be eating yet - some people are never able to eat them. Even if you're not feeling fullnes, you need to limit the amount you eat at one time (my doc set it at about 2 oz), finish the meal/snack in about 15 minutes, and don't "graze"; stick to eating discrete meals and snacks (my doc gave me a schedule for 3 meals and 3 snacks to get in about 750 cal and 100 g protein). Good luck!

I remember the first time Ihad hard boiled egg and today Ihad a piece of american cheese rolled upwith a slice of ham. I have no idea how much and all that so i'm going to go off by what you said your doctor said. My doc only gave me a list of what I can try. Thanks so much this really helps me not feel so lost.

Good. Also, I would stick to softer foods for a couple of weeks: Poached, soft-boiled or scrambled eggs, soft cheeses (ricotta, cottage), fat-free refried beans (really good with fat-free mozzarella cheese). Not sure ham is the best for right now. I was told I would digest fish the best, dark meat chicken next, or potted meat. White meat chicken (too dry), beef and ham are harder to digest and you might want to wait until you're at least a month post-op. Remember to chew food so well it turns to liquid in your mouth before you swallow!

you probably ate the wrong food. I had surgery lap RNY on 6/18 and I have to do 1 week clears,2 wk full liq then 2 wks puree and then 1 wk soft and then introduce real food. your stomach has to heal it takes 6 weeks to heal and then you should only eat 1/2 cup of food to starrt with, the opening to your pouch is the size of an M & M,anything bigger then that won't fit and it will come back up. GOOD LUCK Susan

remember your pouch is the size of a walnut now. Two ounces is about all it can handle for a while. Two ounces is two plastice medicine cups that come on the liquid cold medicines or tylon bottles we use for measuring. With any of this if you do not chew and chew small bites as agrivating as it is and eat slowly no less than a half hour you will get that uncomfortable or pain full feeling you discribed espically with lunch meats and cheese. That is why alot of people puree their foods if you aren't good at chewing. It takes longer to clear your new stomach if the pieces are not really jewed and you eat to fast. Unfortunately you will have to learn to eat slower and not as much.
