My name is Kathy, I became a bandster a week ago Tuesday. Feeling fine, back to work and all is going well. Had a one week appointment and had not lost any more weight. (I had lost 13 pounds the week before surgery). Is this normal -- or am I expecting too much? It is all I can do to fit in the snacks and sometimes I just forget them because i am not hungry and therefore do not think of it.

Relax! Your body is going through a lot of changes and recovering from surgery as well. I know weight loss with the band is slower initially. So just relax, stick to your food plan and give it time. You'll be dropping it before you know it. Good Luck! Melinda

HEY MOM!!!! Welcome to the boards!!!! You should copy this post and put it on the Lap Band Message Board too!!!! By the way... Let yourself have time to heal and then you will be able to fit in more food!!! And the weight will come off.

You probably gained weight in surgery from the gas they use to be able to see your insides and also from all the liquids they pump in you. I was down 16 lbs the day of surgery and had gained 8 back two days post op. It was on two different scales, but it didn't feel too good. You probably just relost all that you gained in surgery.

Hi Kathy, I had lap band surgery on the June 19th also. I havent weighed myself purposely because I believe the post-op diet of clear liquids ( for 2 weeks ) is putting my body in starvation mode and when I do start eating my body is going to hang on to every little thing I eat and show a gain. So as not to depress myself I'm staying clear of the scale for now. I know it's hard but we have to be patient, I't will happen.

Thanks Cindi, I purposely don't weigh myself either but the doctor wanted me in the office in 1 week, so of course they weighed me. I'm over it now I realize my body is doing a lot of changing and adjusting. I will be patient. I know it will happen for both of us. I have gotten some amazing replies from people and their progress -- and I am so glad that will be in store for both of us!. Thank you for your comment ;-) --Kathy
