Iron Deficiency

Today I went for my last appointments before surgery. About an hour after I got home, the nurse called and said I was very iron deficient and I needed to see my PCP. Of course, this might postpone my surgery, I Hope Not. But they have to do an upper GI and a colonoscopy. The nurse said there is still time to get this done and start this medicine they are going to put me on for the iron deficiency and it may not interfere with surgery. Some of the my symptoms are hair loss and fatigue, these are what I have noticed. Has anyone had this happen to them before surgery?

Hi Fonda! Sorry to hear this is happening, I hope they find the cause really soon and are able to get your iron back up and go on with the surgery as scheduled. You certainly do want to be healthy before surgery, so whatever happens, know it is for the best. I am sending up a prayer for you and I pray all with go well. Pam
