how do I know if it works?

Hi I had surgery 6/18 and I am nervous. is it going to work right? I am on clears and i can drink as much as I want slow but I can stilll drink it? How do I know the size of my pouch? what it will hold. I am starting to feel hunger and want food I guess that means I am healing. incisions are all great pain has subsided and I am driving and back to work so that is all good. I am diabetic and have been off meds since surgery but I am also not eating only clears. I am afraid that when I start eating my BS will go up I guess I am just paranoid. Susan

From what I've heard at group, most people leave the hospital on no diebetic meds, but I'm not sure. I can drink as much as I want too, and I'm only four days out. So glad you're starting to heal, if you're that worried, I'd call and talk to your nut, or your nurse. That's what they're there for, and you shouldn't have to worry yourself sick, you're too busy getting healthy! xoxo Colleen

Hi Susan, I am diabetic as well. I had Lap Band surgery on 03/13/07 and I can still drink normal amount of fluids. I started eating some solid on last week and it's going well. I'm not eating as much as I was eating before surgery. My BS are still normal I only had to take a shot 1 time since surgery and that before I had to much apple juice. I do a lot of exercise and space my meal out, so I'm not doing to much eating at one time. Don't let it worry you just pay attention with what you eat.
