My surgery is also tomorrow. I was scheduled for 10:30 but the nurse just called and said I have been moved up to 7:20 tomorrow. I don't know about you but I am very scared. Hang in there, pray today and find something to do to stay busy. Maybe we can compare notes next week. Good Luck Ron

I had RNY on 6/6. The anesthesiologist came and spoke to me prior to going in. I got relaxing meds through the IV and was aware of the mask on my face at one point. Next thing I knew I was waking up! Seems I kept "forgetting" to breath so a nurse would shake me every so often. From there I went to the ICU step down unit which is standard for my hospital. Next day I went for my leak test and then got ICE CHIPS!!! I had very little pain and am doing well at home. Best of luck to all having surgery tomorrow! Jen

I had my surgery on the 4th. I was terrified the few nights before. Then the morning of surgery I was calm as a duck. It was the oddest thing. Even as I was wheeled into the OR I had no nerves. The worst part of the pain was the air they pumped into me as I had Lap RNY. The pressure from that was so painful until I got up and walked and started having bowel movements again. You're both going to do fine! It was a lot easier (surgery that is) that I thought it would be. The hard part is coming home and making the adjustments to your eating habits and diet.

This pain from the air is killing me. I've been trying to walk and I feel better when I do, but as soon as I sit down or lay down it starts up again. How long was it before you got back to normal and the gas was released? It's only been 2 days for me.

Maureen, You are going to breeze through this like a pro. Just relax and don't get yourself anxious. If you feel too anxious, ask for some "happy drugs" from your anesthesiologist. I just had my surgery on the 14th. When I first woke up from surgery in the recovery room I had a lot of pain, but the nurse was right there with me and gave me something immediately. After that, everything was great. It was much easier than I expected. You will do fine. Good luck to you. I'll be keeping you in my prayers. Mary

Keep God close, you will do fine! I pray he gives you some of the peace he's given me. And don't be discouraged, just remember we are almost there! Robin

I'll be joining you @ 7:30 in the morning. My experience w/going under is that they give you something to relax through your iv, then place the oxygen mask over you and you don't know a thing til you wake up. Good luck and God Speed.

Kristina, How did your surgery go? Surgery went well, I have alot of gas pain today. I've been walking around the house to try to clear it. Having an easy time swollowing liquids which is good. Let me know how your doing. Maureen
