I'm on my liquid Diet and I'm hungry as hell. Have anyone else cheat in the post op stages?

Trenella, I must say that yes, I sort of cheated. Saturday, I was at my sisters getting ready to go to my niece's dance recital & she made steak & potatoe's for the entire family (My FAVORITE) I was dying. I took a pea sized piece of steak & put it in my mouth. I probablly chewed it for 2 minutes & then I spit it out. I just needed the taste. I was only out 5 days at that point. But luckily I haven't had the desire since. I went back to work today & it is definately keeping my mind off the hunger & cravings. Good Luck...BTW...What did you cheat with??? Amy

those first few days I was home after surgery...... I was tired of drinking all that liquid but I wasn't exactly hungry. So whatever the rest of the family was having... I used as a 'practice' for future food phases. Ummmm yep, I chewed 20-30 times and then ummmm spit it out. I got the taste, got the chewing sensation, but didn't swallow it....... so it was my version of cheating. It helped a lot though, since I got to taste it, I didn't really miss it. Melinda

Hello, I have to say..I am day 11 postop and haven't cheated...I am too scared to. I have done exactly as my surgeon has said and honestly, I don't feel hungry at all. I actually haven't been hungry since the day before my surgery. Good luck and glad to see you back on the board!

I haven't had my surgey yet so maybe i shouldn't say this yet lol. So forgive me if I'm out of turn but I have noticed on my 2 week pre-op liquid diet that when I think I'm really hungry or starving, I'll think about it a while and relize that it's more of a mental craving of the foods I love. So I have a little SF Jello and it passes. Hope that helps...who knows maybe I'll be tooting a different horn in a couple days... God Bless and just stay focused on why were doing this, it's so worth the strife now, to feel so good the rest of our lives! Keep up the awesome work! *hugz* Robin

I am two weeks post op and have two more weeks to go on the liquid diet. The only "cheating" I've done is by having a homemade beef broth with onions in it. It had cooked in the crock pot overnight, so the onions basically slid down. It did have probably more fat in it then is technically good for me. The thing that frustrates me is that the scale has not moved since friday. If I can't loose weight two weeks post op while living on optifast, what hope do I have to loose weight when I get to regular foods? Sigh.
