I was just wondering if I have my surgery on Monday (lap RNY) will I feel like going with my daughter for her 3D ultrasound on Wed?(it is in Frisco which is about a 40min drive) I know that everyone's recovery is different. I just hate to miss it, because they will be able to tell if it is a boy or girl. Just trying to plan ahead. Thanks, Lynnette

Hey they kept me in the hospital from wednesday and I was able to go home on Friday....The first day I felt like crap which was wednesday. Thursday was 80 percent better and friday I was at walmart. LOL...Just make sure that you take a pillow for your stomach for when you go over bumps and make sure you rest when you feel tired dont try to push yourself to hard... hope this helps...Carol

Would probably depend on what time you got out of the hospital on Wednesday, whether you were able to make it or not. I didn't feel like doing much, but where there is a will... there is a way. So I would imagine, you'd be fine to sit and watch an ultrasound.... just take it easy and don't push yourself too hard. I mainly just wanted to sleep on Wednesday. (I had surgery on monday and was released on wednesday). But hey....... they say get up and walk..... what better way to get moving? GOOD LUCK Melinda

If all goes well, you'll probably be discharged on Wed. However, I felt after surgery like I had that my amount of pain was pretty well controlled, and I can't picture myself in the car for that long as a fresh post up. Plus don't forget your increased risk for DVT right now too. Keep in mind the amount of time not only on the road, but in her doctors office, and the walk to the doctors office from the parking space/drop off area. You might have to wait and see how you feel. Still, if you do go, are you going to either be so uncomfortable or drugged that you can't enjoy it? What about having you on speakerphone while they do the ultrasound??

Lynette, You daughter can get a DVD of the 3 D ultrasound. I wouldn't press my luck like that. I had my surgery this past Thursday and I just got home today. I feel pretty good now, but I didn't yesterday. (day 2 after surgery) You should ask your surgeon if he/she thinks it will be a good idea. Good luck! Mary

Thanks, I did not think of them putting it on tape. Good idea. She will have her husband with her, so she will not be by herself. We are just really close and I wanted to be there when they said whether it was a boy or girl. But I need to remember to take care of myself once in a while Take care, Lynnette

Ye, I wouldn't think it a good idea. I had lapband last Monday and was doing great and came home the same day even. Two days later I was off pain meds (but I had a less painful surgery than you) and I actually had to go to the doctor so I spent the day going in, waiting, and going home, and that was a bit much for me. The dvd sounds like a great idea.

I had a 45 minute drive home from the hospital and was discharged after 2 days. Believe me, when I got home I was ready to lay down and nap! I wouldn't have wanted to do anything else. I was exhausted and the drive made me kind of dizzy. Can she reschedule her appointment until next week? Cindy
