Well, I had surgery LAST monday (the 4th) and this week I've been doing pretty good. I'd posted before that I started walking 1/2 mile on Monday and had my first post op visit on Tuesday. He gave me the A-OK to start pureed foods and thats definitely been a blessing. I know what everyone is going through on that liquid diet, I hated it and couldn't wait to have FOOD!!! Not because I was addicted, but because I was hungry. LOL So I thought I'd update about how this week has been. I started sleeping on my stomach again on Wednesday night. WHAT A RELIEF!!!! I was waking up a lot before because I was uncomfortable not being able to sleep on my stomach. I went to the track today and walked 3/4 mile. My goal is to get to 1 mile and since today was only day 4...... I think that was pretty good. I'd skipped Wednesday because my youngest was sick and we were at the dr's office. My PCP was shocked to see how well I was doing since I'd just had surgery last week. Ummm lets see..... oh..... I've now experienced the 'foamies'. Not pleasant but not miserable. Well not for me anyway. Although one day was worse than the other. I guess no matter how much you prepare yourself, its not going to be enough because your body is different after surgery. The first time, I think I'd eaten too fast. I try to do it slow, but sometimes its harder than others. Today, I was at the track and after my first lap, I took a sip of water. Then I took another couple of sips and put it down. As I was walking, I felt like I needed to burp really bad... but nope, it was FOAM. I know its disgusting, but I just spit it out and kept going. I also went to eat Mexican food with my daughter yesterday. She wanted chicken fajitas so bad... so I said.... we can do this. I got a beef and bean tostado and ate some of the beef and beans off of it. I also put a little hot sauce on her refried beans and took a couple of bites of that. I put my water off to the side and when we were done, I asked the waitress for a to go cup. I put my water in there and we left... so when we finished running some errands and my 1 hour was up.... I had ice water (well cold anyway) to drink. I was so full that I wasn't really bothered by the chips and other stuff that I couldn't have and it was nice to go OUT to eat and be ok. I'm down 25 lbs and going strong. Good luck to everyone else.... and congrats to those who have just been approved. Melinda

Hey Mel, sounds like you are doing amazingly well. I can't tell you how jealous I am that you can eat real foods already. My surgeon requires 4 weeks of liquid diet (basically just protein shakes, jello, popsicles, etc) after the surgery, and then 2 weeks of transition soft food before starting real food. I was doing o****il today, and all of a sudden these shakes are making me gag (not literally, I just don't want to eat them). I have been working on my 3rd shake of the day for the last 2.5 hours. I am also walking, although not as far as you are, and I have been doing upper body weights every other day. As of this morning I was down approx 13 lbs from surgery, and approx 20 lbs from my heighest weight. I'm really glad to hear that you are doing so well. Go June 4th Team!!!! - Melinda

Congratulations to both of you!! You're doing great! I am going to be on the liquid diet for 2 day, then I get to start pureed food for 10 days, and then I can go to soft foods like eggs and stuff. I CAN'T WAIT to eat again lol. This diet isn't horrible but being unable to have the satisfaction of eating is not fun. God Bless and Wow Thursday is almost here!

I am on the liquid too . It sounds like everyones Dr is different . Mine is Liquids for 2 weeks 1 meal soft for 2 weeeks then 3 meals soft for two more weeks. I am having a problem with always being hungry. The shake don't do it, The creamed soup or the farina. I have had a few bathroom problems, I get the runs and my husband who had it done May 21 has the oppiste . We are on a bit of different meal levels now but in a few weeks we will even out. He has gone from a 52 waist to a 48 that are slipping down . He thinks he is dying and losing to fast. If I only had that problem. Laura
