Stomach pain during preop diet

I am on day 5 of the liquid and am having pains on my lower right side of my stomach going around to the right side of my back. I know it is not gall bladder, b/c I have been there done that. Since my liver is on that side and they are trying to cleanse the liver, could that be why it is hurting. It is not a excruciating, but it is sore enought to bother me. It almost feel like a kidney infection, but how on earth would I get a kidney infection with no sodas. Please tell me I am not losing my mind!!!!!

I hate that I'm of no help, but I honestly don't know. I didn't have any pains during the liquid diet... well other than hunger pains. It would probably be best to call your dr. Either the surgeon's office or your PCP and ask. If it's tolerable pain, I'd try some tylenol and see if that relieves it. If not... and you can't get a hold of the dr, then you might consider the ER since its the weekend. Better to be safe than sorry and I would hate for it to turn out to be something worse and delay your surgery. Good luck and keep us updated!!! Melinda

Please call your doctor. It could be something totally unrelated, but you never know.

Donna, mine did that, but I started pushing more fluids (water) and it helped. But I already have some probs in that area b/c of my diabetes. Mine is kidney related and the liquid protein supplements and clear no sugar added juice don't help. But if you have never experienced this, then you diffinately need to call your dr to be safe.
