Nauseated??
I am on my 8th day of this liquid diet. Surgery is next Thursday, but the last 2-3 days I am constantly nauseous. I also get these spells where I get sweaty, dizzy, light headed, weak, flushed feeling like I am going to faint. My husband says is Hypoglycemia? He is by no means a nurse or anything so I thought I would see if anyone else is experienceing this. Other than that I am doing great.
I posted this on the main board and didn't get much response. Thanks
Hi Robin,
I'm not sure about the nausea, but the sweaty, dizzy, light headed, weak feeling definitely sounds like low blood sugar. Are you allowed to have popscicles, jello, or fruit juice on your liquid diet? If so, I would recommend having a regular popscicle, regular jello, or 8 oz of fruit juice to increase your sugar intake slightly. Hopefully, you'll feel better once you get some sugar in your system. I'm not a nurse or even a medical professional, but I feel the exact same way as you described when my blood sugar is low.
Hope that helps slightly!
Amanda
Robin,
Hi! I'm brand new to this forum and on the 3rd day of my pre-op liquid diet (scheduled for sugery on June 27th). I too have been feeling weak, sick to my stomach and occaisionally light-headed. Have you been having any emotional ups and downs too? I breezed through my 3 months of required dieting, then I just fell into this black hole when I started the liquid diet. I was thinking that part of the problem might be all of the milk and milk products I am taking in (mixed with soup, protein powders, yogurt, etc.). I don't feel hungry, just dissatisfied, restless and bloated/sloshy. I guess this is the first step to letting go of food as THE source of pleasure and comfort in life?
I hope you start feeling better soon,
Sandy
First off WELCOME. I have been really emotional...like a crazy woman lol...mad, sad, angry, happy, excited, anxious, tired etc..it's like a very long high hills and deep valleys rollercoaster...I never had to do a 3 month diet and I am jelous of you, if I could only have 1 sip of milk, or a spoon of soup I'd be in heaven *ponders* anyway... I can ONLY have 2 protein shakes (made with water) and 1 meal consisting of 4oz lean meat and 1/2 cup vegies (but I can't have corn, peas or potatoes) No Dairy, No Fruits, No Starches No Caffinee, it has been a fun 8 days (sarcastic) but I'm over half way there! YIPPEE. Any way I hope you feel better too. It's kinda scary thinking you might pass out, at least it is for me. Add Me if you wish! God Bless
This could also be due to all the nutrasweet from the diet. Maybe try to cut back on that as well. Too much of that at one time can cause those symptoms. Maybe try Splenda or Stevia and see if it makes a difference. Good luck and hope you feel better. Also talk to your doctor and he/she can check your sugar.

Same symptoms here....I keep chalking it up to the sweeteners since I've always had a problem with them. I'm going to actively search out the best tasting protein drink sweetened with Stevia. I love the taste of my shakes but can't take the nausea after drinking one much longer. My surgery is Monday and I don't want to start my new life feeling yucky every day.
GL to everyone on their journey!
