just an update
I had surgery last Monday and I've been doing the whole walking around the house thing. It's been so hot, that I was afraid to actually walk outside and go too far or do TOO much. But it's been one week, sooooo I decided to go to the track with my son. We only did 1/2 mile today, but thats a start. Our goal is to work up to 1 mile by the end of the week.
As far as soreness, its pretty much GONE!! Still a little soreness if there's any pressure against my stomach (like when I accidently roll over all the way during my sleep). But other than that..... no problems.
I've also decided I do not like tomato soup. HaHa. I always have before, but I've moved on and now potato soup is my friend... strained of all the chunks ofcourse. YumYum.
How are all my other post-op newbies doing?
Melinda
Hi Melinda,
I too just had my surgery on the 7th and came home on the 9th. I have had to only use my prescription pain meds twice when I came home. I decided that I didn't like the effect and that the pain wasn't that bad. I mostly have some gas and pressure that comes and goes. I just keep sipping as much as I can. Anyway, I am feeling pretty good, I will be glad when these two weeks of not lifting anything over 10 pounds is over. I am a work from home mom and my 21 month old daughter weighs much more than that. As far as my diet goes, I am still on clear liquids until the 14th, then I can start to add the cream soups and such. Anyway, I am so glad that you are doing so well. Keep in touch.
Hi Mel,
Glad you're doing so well!!
It's funny that you mention tomato soup. When I was on the pre-op diet, I ate tomato soup twice cause I love it, but I happened to look at the ingredients (we're talking good ole Campbell's here), and the second ingredient was high fructose corn syrup. Who knew???? I decided post-op that I'd probably have to make my own. I think I'm going to try doing that sometime this week. If it turns out edible, I'll pass the recipe along to the group. Potato soup is definitely yum though!!
I'm still in pain on my left side...it feels like I pulled a muscle but no pain meds for me. All I really want is to be able to shave my legs in the shower without feeling like someone is sticking me in the side. Is that too much to ask??
Congrats on the walking and the distance that you walked. That is a great first step. Keep up the awesome work!!!!!!!!!!!
