It is Friday - 4 days out. Today has been my best day. I went for 4 long walks outside. I saw a few neighbors and I look like absolute hell, but I didn't care - it was so nice to be outside!! I ate food for the first time today. An ounce and a half of egg, an ounce of unsweetened apple sauce, an ouce of chicken salad and an ounce and a half of salmon. Plus one protine shake and some milk. Also, lots of water and warm tea. The tea is great - I have it first thing as it really relaxes my pouch. I am still in pain. I sneezed twice today ind that SUCKED! The liquid pain meds my first night home caused me to feel woozy ad I dry heaved twice. It was like no pain I have ever known. We called the Dr. right away and he switched me to darvaset. Hooray!!! So. Much. Better. I have had lots of highs and just a very few lows so far - I wrote all about it on my blog. My biggest question now is when will the pain end. It is getting a little better every day, but I want to know when it will be GONE!!!! I would love to hear how the other June 4th folks are doing!!!! I go see Dr. Kim on June 20th. I am not weighing until then.

Hi! My surgery was on June 4th also. I am still on the liquid diet. I am very very weak and discouraged because I feel like I am not able to take care of myself. How do you get to eat so soon if you don't mind me asking.

I was a June 4th'er too. I'm also on the liquid diet, although today... I get to start the full liquid and not the clear liquids. I'm told I can't have food until about 2 weeks out. So I guess every doctor really is different. I'm feeling way better. I haven't had any pain meds since I came home Wednesday night. I'm now sleeping on my stomach, with the help of a pillow. I haven't tried the walking outside, only because it is so hot and I'm still sore, that I figured that could be a bad idea. So I'm walking around the house..... a lot. Jamella... sorry you're feeling like you can't take care of yourself. Maybe you need to sip more? Although I know that is freaking hard, cuz I'm struggling with it too. But I don't want to get dehydrated. Soooooo uh what was the dr's post-op program, that you can have food so soon? Melinda

OOPS!! minor correction........ I'm sleeping on my SIDE with the aid of a pillow. I don't think I'm quite ready to sleep on my stomach yet, but it was a good dream. Haha Melinda

Not me having the food. That's the post above mine and I was asking the same thing.

I know... I was commenting to both of yall. I just started back on full liquids today and could barely finish my protein shake... took me almost 2 hours. I've also had some chicken broth, water and my favorite....... blue bell sugar free GRAPE popsicle. To be honest, I know there's probably some swelling, so I dont think I'd want to try any food, even if they did say it was ok. Hope you're feeling better though. Melinda

Hey Melinda - sounds like you are doing GREAT! That is awesome. Sleeping your your stomach - WOWZER! I can't do that. I am kinda afraid to try sleeping on my side just yet. But all in good time. Good for you with the walking. That is the key to a speedy recovery! I like the outside walks, even in the Florida heat. It just feels good to be in the sun. 2 weeks on liquid. ugh. I am glad Dr. Kim doesn't have us do that. I had to do it 2 weeks prior to surgey and would not want to go 2 more weeks. Keep plugging - you get food in one more week!

Hi Janella, Sorry to take so long to reply, have not been online since Friday. My dr put us on food on day 3. I waited until day 4 because of the dry heaves caused by my pain meds on day 2. I am suposed to have an ounce and a half of protein and an ounce of veggie or fruit 4 times a day. I admit that I can't get it all in quite yet because I get full. Have you tried pureeing food? Some people do baby food - but, well... yuck. That is not for me. Also, have something warm first thing in the morning, it relaxe the pouch and makes it easier for me to get going and take my meds. I like decaf apple tea. It is a week now and my pain gets less and less every day. Are you walking? I have forced myself to walk at least 5 times a day even when it hurt and I didn't want to. It is much easier to do now. I go to the end of the street and back and it takes about 15 minutes each time. I hope things are better for you. Let me know. Marli

Unfortunately, I seem to be doing the worst of us. I have a lot of nausea and was having severe D so I got dehydrated and needed some IV fluids. Stopped the liquid pepcid and the D stopped, so that's an improvement. I always have a lot of nausea post op, so I'm not suprised to have it now. I'm supposed to be on full liquids, but I can only manage clears. SF popsicles and broth are my friends right now. I just tried some skim milk...not so much. Seems to twist my guts up, so I guess I'm lactose intolerant now. I tried soy milk and that's doing ok, so hopefully today I'll be getting some decent protein in. Glad to see everyone else is doing well. Keep sipping and walking...this too shall pass right?
