Seeking advise on south of the border surgeon options and post-care fills

Hi, I'm seeking out recommendations for south of the border surgeons for my lap band. I'm a self-pay patient and simply can't afford the addtional $$ it would take for a US Doc. I've heard good things about Dr Rumbaut in Monterrey. Also did some research on Dr Jose Rodriguez in Acuna, Mexico. Each Doc would send me referrals but do you really think I would get anything but a thumbs up from the Doc Patient Reps refferals? Would love your opinion, so I can move forward with a decision. Any advise on locking down a US Doc for post care and fills? I'm in a large TX city and can't seem to get anyone local to talk to me. Thanks for the forum. I've been an avid reader for weeks.

I have no idea! You may go out to the main posting page. This particular forum are for people scheduled for June surgery. You might have better luck with one of the other forums, such as the Lap-Band forum.

I have my lapband done about 3 weeks ago in TJ Mexico. I went to beliteweight as my facilitators. The surgery was 8000. They also have a list of docs in each state that will do fills for Mexico patients if you don't go back to TJ for them which are included in the fee.

Hi, I'm new to the forum, so hello everyone. I am having lap band surgery June 13th in TJ at the Hospital Angeles. Dr. Valencia is my surgeon. I live in San Diego so it's just a quick trip to TJ. I was denied by my health insurance (I also work for them and they still denied me.) Before I decided to go to TJ I contacted Be Lite and they set up a tour of the hospital which is 1 year old and beautiful with all the bells and whistles. Also met the surgeon who spent well over an hour with us on a Saturday. Won;t get that kind of treatment in the US. Also, Dr. Valencia is a proctor to docs at UCSD. I'm feeling very positive about the experience. Anyone else going to Mexico?
