June 22nd..

Hi all... My surgery date for RNY is June 22nd with Dr. Barker in Dallas, Texas. Anyone else here have this doctor?? If so, what do you think of him and his staff thus far?? What about the liquid diet, is it only for 1 week like the paper says?? That seems odd since most others here are on it for 10 days to 2 weeks prior to surgery. Thanks, Lisa J.

So Shell, have you made any modifications to your diet or are you waiting until the last possible minute?? I'm waiting... and savoring every bit of solid food I can. I know... "Bad Lisa"

LOL I'm kinda waiting..... I'm finding that I'm having some of my favorite meals at dinner just cuz I know I MIGHT not be able to have them again (a lot of pasta dishes)... BUT I'm not eating a LARGE amount and I'm also practicing my chewing and trying not to drink for an hour after meals. I've also increased my H2o intake through out the day. I'm going to have my "last supper" (still not sure what it will be yet) on the 10th and be done with it..... I start my pre-op liquid diet on the 11th.

I'm having my surgery the same date in West Hills, California! It's getting closer! Different docs have different rules for post op. I'm not sure why they are different, but I'll follow my doc's orders to the letter!

Wow, same day.. How cool is that? Okay different parts of the country but just think we'll both be recovering at the same time. Have you made modifications to your diet already or are you waiting until the last possible minute **like me

I've given up carbonated beverages (and that was HARD), started drinking more water, taking more vitamins, being more active, and having more protein. I've gone on a quest for yummy protein drinks, and have had good luck! I have a drink or pudding each morning for breakfast.

Lisa! We are both '22'! I don't know about you, but after such a long wait, it hardly seems real. I keep waiting for it to fully sink in! The very best to you! Alison
