1st day of pre-op liquid diet
Well, I knew this day would come and so far... so good, but ummm its not even 1 in the afternoon =)
I went to the store yesterday to stock up on some things for before surgery and ofcourse for after. I got the Slim Fast low carb shakes, ready mixed in the can. I figured they'd probably be easier for right now. Once I'm in the maintaining stages, I'll move on to powder, but I think the hardest part is wanting something 'easy'... so if the shake is cold and ready to go..... can't get much easier than that. So far I've only tried the vanilla cream, but its pretty good.
So ummm what are yall having?

Hey Melinda
I start my 2 week pre-op liquid diet next Tuesday. I am really not looking forward to it at all, but I guess it is one of those necessary evils. We drink 5 a day and get one entre' a day if we want. I am really trying to stay positive knowing that this will help my surgery go better, plus get a head start on my weight loss.
We have to use the program drinks, I think it is Optifast or something like that...??
Good luck to you and hang in there. We can do this!!
Have a great day!!

Hey Melinda! It's my first day on the liquid thing too. My supplements are from Bettermd.com and they are not very good tasting. I'm choking it down and chasing it with Crystal Light. I know I can do this. I have decided that while the other girls at work are eating lunch, I am going to gulp down my shake then go for a walk a couple of times around the block. The shakes do take the hunger away for a few hours, so if I can just get past the taste, I'll be good to go. Here's to us and our liquid feast!
I started mine today - it is going to be tough!
I have my own office at work, so I chose to bring a hand blender and use powders, so I could add some fruit. My husband bought the same ones as you, but I hate artificial sweetners, I can choke them down if I have to. I may decide that ready to go will be easier, especially on the weekends, since we never stay home .
I ordered a bunch of samples from a few different websites. They were $0.99-$1.50, so much less expensive than wasting a whole tub of something I didn't like.
This morning I had, skim milk, frozen fruit, and IsoFruit Delite protein powder. It tasted pretty good. I have heard of an unflavored whey protein that I think I will try post-op.
