Hi!! I'm NEW!! Surgery June 4th!!

Hi all, My name is Marli and I am sooooooo happy to have found this place! My surgery is scheduled for June 4th at Celebration Hospital. My surgeon is Dr. Kim. I have struggled with my weight all my life - since I was a pre-teen - but it has gotten really bad in the last 5 years or so. I am at my highest weight ever! I never thought I would get the surgery, and then last March my husband and I were at Atlantis in the Bahamas and I was to afraid to try the many water slides they have there because I was scared that I would be to fat for the innertubes. I love water rides, roller coasters and all of that and I hate that I can't do them any more (I haven't been able to fit into the roller coasters at Universal Studios for 4 years). So, we decided together on that trip to check into Gastric Bypass. I have 5 friends who have had the surgery with fantastic results. I guess I was very lucky with my insurance because I was approved in one month. I can't believe the insurance nightmares I have read on these boards and in the many wonderful profiles here. Dr. Kim has had me on a liquid dies since May 18th and when I weighed in last Wednesday (the 23rd) I had lost 8 lbs. I only weigh in on Wednesdays at my TOPS group. I will be interested to see what the scale says this Wednesday. The liquid diet has sucked. LOL! I really miss the taste of meat and cheese - good thing that protein is going to be our staple for life! I don't really miss cake or cookies, and I am grateful for that. Well, that's about all for now. I am really excited to have found this place and look forward to posting with all of you. What board is the best to post on here. The Florida board? The main board? What gets the most traffic? TT y'all soon! :-D

Hi Marli!! Welcome and congratulations on your date! That is coming right up. You must be excited. This June board is really great. Lots of nice supportive people here. Also check on your state board because you will meet people near you and maybe you can find a support group on there. Good luck in all you do. Mary

Hi and thanks for the reply! I can't believe the date is so close. I can't wait! OK - so if I enter a date, then I am on the June board for everyone all over the country, and if I enter Florida, it will be people who live in florida - right? Cool! Thanks!

Hi Marli I am so glad for you I hope you sail through. What are you having done? My Date is June 18th I am terrified and excited and feel like it will never get here. June 4th is right around the corner. Blessings Laura

Hi Laura, I am having the RNY Bypass. I am very excited about it. I am not really stressing about the surgery, but I am stressing about work right now. I have one day left to work this week, and I know I won't get everything done I need to get done. I am in sales and its all about deadlines. I think I just have to throw my hands in the air and let the chips fall where they may. I can't worry about work - I have to worry about myself. I am taking three weeks off to recover. I just can't let all this stress affect my eating. I think that is my biggest worry. Anyhow, I am having a 'I Hate My Job' day. :mad: Are you also having RNY?

Hi Marli, My surgery, RNY, is June 4th also. I'm getting really excited and a bit nervous as well. I'll be glad when it is all over and I'm on the way to losing some poundage! Good luck to you with your surgery!

Hi Kath! I am getting a little nervous as well, but not bad. Lake I wrote earlier, my headach is my job. I think I am looking forward to 3 weeks off the most! :rofl: I can't wait to read about how we all do!!!!!

Hi Marli, My RNY is June 7th...I too am on a liquid diet and have been for 7 days now, I haven't weighed yet, I need to get a new scale. I can't wait to see how much I have lost just from this part! I too miss everything but sweets, lol. These slimfast shakes are just too sweet. Anyway, welcome and good luck. I look forward to hearing from you and seeing how we all do one pound at a time! Kim
