Husband's surgery

My husband had his band done today. He is doing great! He slept until about 1:00pm, then got up and walked around. He has not asked for any pain medication. They have been giving him Toradol (pain) and Zofran (nausea) on a regular schedule though. He said his stomach feels tight, but everything is tolerable. He will have his swollow in the morning and then I will bring him home! Dr. Malley implanted the new AP band. He is a trainer for the company and does so many procedures that they gave him 5 samples of the new one. He said the balloon goes all the way around the band, instead 3/4 and it is easier to buckle and unbuckle if needed. He said Dr. Obrien in Australia has been placing them for a year and that they have shown to produce greater weight loss. Dr. Malley is probably going to do a study for them - hopefully I can be in the study when I get my band on the 14th! Missy

Thanks all for the well wishes! He is still doing amazingly well. He had is swallow test, which was fine, so they bought him broth and tea. He kept those down no problem, so he was discharged. We walked around Wal-mart for about an hour while we waited on his perscriptions, then went to our friends house for a couple of hours. He finally took some liquid Tylenol about 6:30 and fell asleep on the couch. He sipped on tomato soup and water throughout the day. No nausea or any severe pain - AMAZING. I hope mine goes as well! We certainly are looking forward to a year from now, being half the people we are!
