Have any of you had a vena cava filter?

Hi everyone, I went for my pre-admission testing yesterday and found out that I need to have a vena cava filter put in to decrease the risk of pulmonary embolism. Has anyone had that done? Were you able to go to work the next day? The nurse says I should be able to work the next day, but I would like to hear from people who have already had it done. If you have, jot me a note and let me know how it went. Thanks, Mary

Haven't had it done yet. But will before surgery. My sister had one before her surgery and theres nothing to it. You should be able to do anything you want the next day. char

Hi Mary, I was in the hospital with a DVT when I had my filter put in so I can't help with what I was able to do the next day. But I wanted to let you know I've had my filter in since October of 2000 and never had any problems. Take care, Cindy
