Surgery Date & Ins. Approval
I am SO excited. I have my surgery date 6/11 and I just rec'd my ins approval. I wish I could so sooner but my husband is off the week of 6/11 so he can help me out.
He had the same surgery in 9/04 and has lost 200 lbs. He looks and feels AWESOME!
Goo dluck to everyone here. I KNOW we will ALL be sucessful!

Hi Amy
Congratulations! I am excited for you and delighted to hear how great your husband's experience has been!
Forgive me if I may ask stupid questions, I'm new with using the discussion board on this site. Prior to now I've really only looked....which is on and off for 7 years!
What surgery are you going to have? I'm hoping to have the Lapband surgery. I don't have a date but I chose the June boards because I HOPE to have it around that time. That's a few months down the road. (God willing!)
What surgery did your husband have? I'm curious if it's the rou en y or lapband. For all I know at this second I'm only on a lapband forum and my question looks stupid! Ha...but I have to ask! I am hoping your surgery will be as successful as his. I would like to lose 150 but I think I should not expect to lose more than 100-116 within 18months. I'll still be a little bit overweight but I know I will feel better, feel lighter on my feet (so excersizing should be more attainable) and look much better than I do now at such a high weight. I always thought I was so strong, but while excersizing I caused a couple disks in my lower back to herniate badly and ever since I have learned how heavy I am! And I've lost strength over the past several months and it's scared me quite a bit. Sorry this is getting so long....hope to hear back from you...and I wish you all the best with your surgery and recovery!
Julie
Julie,
There are no such things as stupid questions. This board is for those having/possibly having surgery in June, no matter what surgery you're having. Welcome!
I will be having the Rou en Y, just like my husband. It is supposed to have a higher success rate than the lap ban when you have more to lose (just what I have heard & seen).
I am sorry to hear about all of your back trouble, bu thopefully after surgery, you will be feeling better.
My husband was 367lbs when he had his surgery & his goal was 220lbs. He now weighs 180. I am hoping to see the same results but ANYTHING is better than what I am now.
Good luck & thanks for responding!
Amy
Amy - Congrats on your surgery date! My date is the day after yours and I can't believe how much fun I'm having counting down! I teach up until the 8th of June, so I couldn't get an earlier date, but I kind of like having the time to get ready. Right now I'm having fun ordering protein samples online - after surgery I'm sure I'll be ordering clothing in smaller sizes - lol!
Best of luck to you!!
Hi! Thanks for the response. I will continu to wor****il the 8th also, but my plan is to hopefully be back to work on the 18th of June, (pending complications) Yup, just 1 week later! I was out on disability in Oct for an injury I rec'd and can not apply again for 1 year so I NEED to get back ASAP. I sit at a desk so I don't have to stand or walk alot & I have a rest room right in my office, so if need be, I'm right there. I might just start out a few hrs per day, but I'll just play it by ear.
Thanks & best of luck to you!
Amy
