Hi - I'm Fiona - got my surgery date yesterday which will be the 11th of June. I'm basically looking for someone else who is going to be having a RNY in the same month to buddy up with - swop experiences, share worries and happy times as well. Even though I'm far away I'm sure our experiences will be similar - so I hope to hear from someone. Long distance hugs.

I was originally scheduled for surgery 3/15/07...but insurance stopped that...now it looks like mid June for me now. I am very discouraged and to have a couple of new friends to share experience along the way would be great! Vera

vera- I was also scheduled this month, on Monday the 9th, and got to the hospital, all set to go, and my surgeon called in because she had had some medical complications of her own and could not perform the surgery. So I have been postponed to June 11th. I think I cried the entire first day. I'm over the tears now, but still very, very frustrated. Something tells me we'd be great surgery buddies!

That would be great! Frustration does not begin to state the feelings I originally had...but the only word that really begins to fit. Would be fun to have you to journey with Amy! Lets do! Vera

Hi Vera- Hope all goes well with your surgery. I finally got a letter of approval from my insurance after about 15 months of "hoops". I had given up on the surgery. According to the letter mine is 6/1/07 in Topeka. Since I live in Hays, it's nice having someone else in these parts having surgery also! Good luck!

I did have surgery on the 7th. It honestly was a breeze. Have had my share of surgeries in the past and by far this was the best. St.Francis was awesome, all the nurses were great, and I couldn't have asked for better. I was up walking later that evening. The only problem I had was with the "gas" they use during surgery- felt soooo bloated afterward but walking really did help. The liquid diet now is no problem since I had been on it prior to surgery. Lost some blood so they held my Lovenox so of course being a nurse I laid there and thought I was going to get a PE or something but all turned out good. I feel good enough to go back to work (almost) but still have a few more days off. I hope all goes well with your surgery! I think doing the liquid diet prior and being prepared for things after surgery really helped. Let me know how you do!! Good luck- Lisa

Lisa, I am so happy to hear that your doing so well! I have really struggled with this liquid diet preop!!!! How did you get through it? Maybe I am not doing things right and letting myself get too hungary. I feel like going to my room and staying there until next Thursday! I probably would if I could. So are you taking a whole month off from work? Do you feel weak at all? How much have you started to lose? I am so happy for you! Take care and keep in touch! Vera
