Hi, Debbie - welcome to the June board. Sounds like you are doing very good - good for you! My highest weight was 286; I was 278 at surgery. I've lost down to 169.8 as of this morning. I was making some bad food choices and snacking from Xmas for a month or so, so I was stuck in a stall. I've recently reined myself in and have started loosing again. I've lost 5 pounds in the past two weeks. I think you can expect to start loosing more slowly - the honeymoon is over. But you can jumpstart it again by cutting back on carbs, upping the water and increasing exercise. sounds like you are doing really good on the exercise. My arms are my most-hated part now. I always had big arms and now they are flabby arms. I feel for you.

Congrats on your weight loss so far
My highest weight was 288 and 2 weeks before surgery I was 252... I am down to 181 now and have 26lbs more to reach my goal
I too have started making some bad food choices lately... eating out is so easy but its really not too good - so many hidden calories/salt in most of the food!! Im going back to packing my lunch for work this week and eating at home in the evenings - I live alone so its hard always eating alone but I gotta do it!!!
My arms are awful too!! There are so many cute summer clothes out now but a lot have fitted arms and I just cant wear them!! I dont mind showing the "chicken wings" but I just need shirts that fit them!! I am hoping to have plastic surgery around July/August and cant wait to get the arms done!!!

I was excited to find this board tonight...I was wondering how others were doing that had surgery around the same time as I did (6/27/06). My highest weight was around 345. I was 336 the day of surgery. I weigh 232 now. I want to get to onederland SO bad! It's been a long time ! I feel like I should have had more off by now and I think I could have, but lately I've not been making the best food choices. I eat out too much. I think I'm going to cut down on that and start packing my lunches for work. I worry about stretching out the pouch, even though supposedly it's not supposed to stretch that much. I didn't eat sugar at all for a long time. Lately I've found out I can eat a few cookies, chips etc..(just makes me sleepy) and that's not a good thing, because I'm afraid of getting into old habits. On the bright side, I've been doing pretty good with exercise. I do 30 min. on the eliptical EVERYDAY and weight machines at the gym 3x/week. I just ordered the chicometrics DVD and it came in the mail a few days ago. I'm going to do it tomorrow. I shattered my shoulder real bad a few yrs ago and still can't move my left arm real good, so I hope I can the arm exercies. My arms are SOOO flabby. YUCK! I take the vit/calcium/ B12 like I'm supposed to. I could do better witht he water...usually get 6 glasses/day. I only lost 5 lbs last month. I had been losing 10-15. I don't want it to slow down this early! I've still got a long way to go. I don't want to screw up this great opportunity.

Thank you so much Lori. I am hoping it is pain transfer too. I would hate for it to be something ELSE.

Sorry to hear about your health problems Michelle. Hopefully Friday's intervention does the trick. I can't remember the details of my neuroanatomy course, but I am guessing that it could be possible that referred pain from your stones could end up in your groin. I'm not sure enough to bet on it though.
I do hope all goes well for you tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you and will send some healing thoughts and energy your way.

Topic: RE: Help! Can't eat.
Hi, Sher Lo...Hopefully, you have gotten some info from your Dr. Let us know.
For an idea of what is working for me...I drink 1 oz of Prostat-64, which is equal to 15 grams of protein...3 times/day. That takes care of 45 grams...after that I eat some yogurt or 2% cheese...maybe some "meat" that I can tolerate...all trial and error at this point. I concentrate the rest of my meals around produce...healthy, colorful, softly cooked veggies and some fruit. I eat a lot of combo veggies in small quanities. Most of the produce is high in potassium, as I was low, due to the blood pressure meds that I no longer need. I do eat bean-based soups and brothy chili, but limit the amount of food so that I don't get sick. The Prostat-64 costs about $30 per bottle, which lasts 10 days. It does not taste very good, but can be taken quickly. I believe that it is the product that is used in hospitals to tube feed patients so it is probably a fairly "complete" source of protein. Over time, I will rely on soft meats, fish, etc, instead of the 3 oz mentioned above. Ultimately, I plan to change over to regular "proteins" and produce. If I am going to eat a lower nutrition snack (crackers, pretzels), I pair it with a time that I am eating high protein, basically Prostat-64 right now...it helps to rid the 1 oz taste problem...which I am getting used to after 2 months. I had my surgery in early 12/06 so I am still new to eating. I thought that since you have been having problems, your system might be similar to a more recent post-op patient. I would ask your Dr and your Nutritionist about the above for their expertise. Wishing you health and peace of mind...Ro
Topic: Kidney Stone Update
I need some June Bug lovin'. Friday I am going in to get the stones in my left kidney blasted. I have been having trouble with the doctors and with Kaiser too and am happy to finally be getting them taken care of. I had less trouble getting my WLS.
I have 2 stones in my left kidney. One is blocking the tube from the kidney to the bladder almost completely. I have one stone in my right kidney and will get that blasted in 6 weeks. My stones are too big to do them all in one day.
I have been really lucky not to be in pain from these stones. I have read horror stories about the incredible pain people have with their stones. The last couple weeks I have been having twinges of pain in my lower left groin area. It got so bad on the 19th I went to the ER. It was a total nightmare. We got to the ER at 8:30pm and did not get home until after 10am the next day. It is now the record for my family of time spent in the ER. Luckily DS was off school that week but DH and I both had to miss work.
They attributed the pain to my kidney stones but I am not convinced that was the problem. It just seemed that once they found out I had stones they latched onto it and that was THE diagnosis. They looked for ovarian cysts but did not find any. They did find fibroid tumors. I did not know I had them. If you have info on these please let me know.
I really thought it was my hernia stangulating but it wasn't. I am thinking it is bowel problems. I will have to wait and see if I still have the pain after I get the stones blasted on Friday. Stones in the right kidney are not going to present pain in my left lower groin. So if the pain is still there then I have another problem.
Anyway I will be out of commission for a few days after Friday. I was happy to get the appt on Friday so I can rest on the weekend and not have to take paid days off.
