Hi
Of course nobody can tell you what to do, but we can suggest or offer our opinion. Truthfully, I think deep down, you have made your decision from everything you mention in your post, but in my opinion, I think you should spend the summer with your sons. They are only young once, and that is the most precious time for us as parents to see them develop into men or women. Since your husband has a job which he can go elsewhere or look elsewhere and not have difficulty finding work, and he is willing to look for another place that offers Kaiser, why not. You are going to have to leave anyway from that job. Enjoy it while you can and then really enjoy your summer. Good luck on your decision.

I forgot to add that I really feel you on being a caretaker. I watched my Grandmother for a while and it is really hard work and can be very trying. So kudos to you for that.

Thanks for the hug. I can sure use it.
I forgot to mention that I will be getting a great severance package. Since I have been working there for so long I will get over six months of pay when I leave. So That is why I will be able to take the summer off. I am not guaranteed the same package next year. They say it should be the same but there is no guarantee. I probably could go back later as a temp but I really only want the insurance and a temp would not get insurance. I would rather work somewhere else and try to find a place that has Kaiser insurance. I asked the bariatric clinic at Kaiser about leaving and coming back and they said that would be no problem. I am leaning towards putting the burden on DH and telling him it is his responsiblity to find a job that carries Kaiser. He takes x-rays so can look at many different places. I also would not be adverse to getting a job at Kaiser for a period of time when I am ready to get my ps.

I have lost #88. I am down to about losing #4 a month. I have a goal weight of #170. I have about #15 to lose to reach my goal. No, I do not plan on getting below 160-170. I have had 2 different doctors tell me that #170 would be a good weight for me. Right now I wear a size 12. Hang in there. We all go through stalls. Go back to the basics. I plan on going on the below plateau buster for 10 days.
Plateau Buster Diet:
#1 - Do this for 10 days to break a plateau
#2 - Drink 2 quarts of water a day
#3 - You must have 45 grams of protein supplement and all your vitamins/minerals supplements each day (some suggest at least 60 and up to 80 gr)
#4 - You may consume up to 3 oz of the following high protein foods, 5x a day
beef
pork
chicken
turkey
lamb
fish
eggs
low fat cheese
cottage cheese
plain yogurt or artificially sweetened
peanut butter
beans/legumes
You may also have:
sugar free popsicles
tea or coffee
sugar free soda
sugar free jello
broths
crystal light drinks
#5 - If it's not on the list, you can't have it for 10 days!!!!
#6 - Keep a food diary and try to get up to 30 mins of exercise daily

HI, Brooke. 91 pounds is great! I've lost about 110 pounds, so not that far off from you. I'm stalling - but I know it's because I'm not eating as well as I should. I think the walking exercise video is an excellent idea. I used to take care of my FIL on weekends and I know how you can have absolutely no time or way to get away during the week when you don't have as much help. At least the video will allow
you a way to do your exercise while you are still in the house in case he needs you. You can always stop the video if needed and resume after you take care of a situation. Depending on the age of your little one, she/he may enjoy "walking" right along with you. It might even provide entertainment for your father! You will have to make a commitment with yourself - it won't be easy with all you are doing for your father and little one, but try for 3x a week, then 4x, etc. You will probably benefit from additional energy (I know it's hard to believe but true).
Good luck - hang in there, eat your protein, drink water and take your vitamins. You've got a lot going on and have done a great job so far!

Oh, wow, I can't really give you advice on that one but am sending you a cyber hug! That's a hard decision to make. Your "potential" panni and your son's expensive medicine vs. time with your son(s). Are you getting a severance package if you take the layout? Would that at least cover the income and medicine differential? Does the work place have other options for this hybrid position - in other words, if there isn't anyone who could do the job(s) but you, does that give you some bargaining power for more money or a package later. I know you don't think so, but there might be. After all, they do need someone to do the work and they have asked you first.

Hi Brooke-
I can't believe your dr. offered you a diet pill. That is so scary. That is what we as wls people are trying to avoid. I have lost 98lbs since surgery. So you are about right were I am. Please don't tell me I am slow too??? I am not going to buy it. When is the last time you lost 91lbs in 9 months? This is not a quick fix or the easy way out. I think you are doing not only yourself but your family a great disservice by not exercising. They need you to be healthy in order to take care of them. How old is your child? Can you walk them around the block. Can you play with them in the livingroom by lifting them and dancing around? All of that counts as exercise and kids love that stuff. I think you might need to re-think how you want to live your life. I know I had surgery in order to be able to do more things. So as I lose the weight I DO more things. It is very exciting. I am now thinking about becoming a sheriff. How crazy is that????
I hope this wasn't too much tough love. Wishing you all the best, Michelle
