Good for you, Michelle. One of the big things on our journeys is doing what is right for US.

Topic: RE: messed up body image?
I'd have to say it's psychological. I look down and all I see is big belly but I'm wearing a size 2P pants so I KNOW (most of the time) that's not rational. There's a reason they say it takes 2 years for our heads to catch up to our bodies. It just does.

Topic: I told my Boss
Yesterday I told my Boss I would not be signing the papers to extend my employment for another year. Thanks to everyone for their points of view and encouragement when I posted earlier. I cannot tell you how scary this is after being at my job for almost 20 years. But if I stayed I really would just be postponing the inevitable. My dh is fine with my decision and has already looked into putting us on his insurance. I know my parents and his mom think I should stay.
My Boss was not too happy I was not going to stay but really didn't say too much. I guess I had better start weeding out some of the junk from my cubicle.
Thanks again, Michelle
Topic: RE: exercise isn't helping!
Yep, that's me - not being really good on eating, but keeping my water and exercise up. I fluctuate on the same 3-5 pounds. I don't know what to say except that I think if you keep it up, eventually the scale has to move. That or you'll be losing inches.

Hi Kim,
I am right there with you. I would like to lose another 32-37 pounds. I work out with a trainer 3x a week, 30 minutes of treadmill 5x per week, and I recently started trying pilates and kickboxing classes at the gym. I haven't lost for the last few months either. I am also a stress eater and have been dealing with some tough situations lately. I called my doctor's office last week and they said to start keeping a journal again so I started yesterday. I drank more than enough water and got my protein in. I really did better with my eating throughout the day - until I ate some Cheetos with my son last night. I still lost 1/2 a pound, so that motivated me to do better today. I bought some healthy snacks so I can enjoy something too without feeling guilty. Losing the 1/2 pound made me remember what a thrill it was to get up each morning (yes I weigh myself every day) and see some positive results for all of my hard work. I really feel like I am getting my motivation back.
I really think the exercise makes a lot of difference. Maybe you're losing inches and not pounds right now? Try increasing the intensity of your treadmill routine. These are things that people have suggested to me.
Hope this helps

Topic: RE: kidney stones?
I started having pains last month....I went to my WL surgeon thinking it was a ulcer because...the pain was in my upper stomach area and mid back...and one day I threw up with some blood (yes scared the heck out of me). I went and had the scope down my throat into my stomach (got the pics of the inside of my stomach) done and it came back as no ulcers, that was done on a friday, saturday i passed a stone.
The pain was terrible, hurt like hell, thought i was dying, worse than anything else i have had or had done, DID I mention the pain?? (I was scared and hurting badddddddddd).
I was told by my nut to make sure I don't drink any tea, which i don't. But also drink water with lemon in it.
And I have NEVER had a stone before WLS and I hope I don't get another one...once again IT HURT LIKE HELL!!!!
so drink your water.
Topic: exercise isn't helping!
Okay guys,
For a month now I've been religiously getting up early, doing the treadmill for 30 minutes (Run/Jog/Incline), doing sit ups and push ups. Mon-Friday. I was hoping that it would get the scale moving again...but it hasn't. I keep fluctuation wtih the same couple pounds. I don't remember the last time I've actually lost.. It's been a couple months at least....
Is anybody else dealing with this? I know we've all talked about the weight loss slowing down...but am I the only one that is still dealing with this for this long? My food choices haven't been the best.. I'm a stress eater, so I have to watch it, but I'm around 1200 calories a day. (and burning 300+ five days a week exercising)
I do feel much better for exercising, but I was hoping the scale would move. I'd still like to lose 30 lbs!
Blessings,
Kim
Topic: RE: Has anyone notice there feet got smaller?
I was wearing a 10 at the time of surgery... in Dec I had to buy 9 1/2s.. some of my 10s were way to big and got rid of them... kept buying 9 1/2s... well in Feb I went down to a 9!!!!! Ive had to get rid of all the 10s and even some 9 1/2s!
Topic: RE: messed up body image?
Im going to say its because of saggy skin.... I have about 25lbs to get to goal and my stomach is shrinking but starting to look worse and worse to me... before it just hung... now it still hangs instead of being big and hangy its wrinkly and shaped funky... the sides are flattening out and now I have a funky sticking out part in the middle! yuuuuuuuuck! Also my chicken wing arms are getting worse... before my arms were big, now the top and sides are small and I have that nasty wing hanging off... the more Ive worked out and lost weight the worse it looks because it just doesnt seem to match the way the rest of my arm looks! Ive always had stretch marks on my arms and they are getting worse the more I look better!!! Its hard to deal with the after effects of losing weight... we are all happy to make it to our goals but still deal with the (as I like to call them) "marks of a fat chick"... we have the bodies of somebody who was fat and lost weight, not the body of somebody who has always weighed the weight we do.
Just know you arnt getting fatter, or crazy (or crazier!!) and your brain isnt punishing you!!!
Topic: RE: Plastic surgery consult (yucky visuals, be forewarned)
Sorry to hear about the wait you know they say the best things in life are waiting for! Just wanted to comment about you wanting the tummy, breasts and thighs done at once.... most PS (at least the good ones) wouldnt do all those surgeries together. Reasons being they believe its too much on your body at once and you wont heal as well. My friend just finished 3 rounds of PS after going on many consults and talking to many surgeons... she found they would do her tummy and breasts together but always wanted to do thighs alone. Some surgeons will do tummy and thighs together but the majority were against it saying it was too much at once! She ended up getting 3 surgeries so far... once arms, once circumfrencial TT /lipo, once thighs/lipoand is going back for breasts and arm touch ups/lipo. Of course we all want to go in and have everything at once but if by spacing things out you get a better result it would be worth it!! I have my frist consult in May with a PS and am going to hear another PS speak next month at my support group. I am paying for everything myself so hopefully my wait wont be as long!
