I would say it took about a month to get my appointment. I had no skin issues, other than it had to go! I was @ the 8 month mark when I was approved and had Not lost 100#'s yet. Robin

Topic: Will the scale finally move?
I just wanted to post an update to my previous post about the scale being stuck and how hard these 23lbs have been to get off. I saw my NUT yesterday and here is what she told me... hopefully some of it can help you! My previous eating plan was 800-1000 calories/40-60g protein/60-80g carbs/30g fat She changed it to 900-1000 calories/60-70g protein/80-90g carbs/30g fat She said I was eating too much protein... I was eating on average 60-80g+ a day... she also said I was eating too much fat... I never really watched the fat because I was focused on the calories/carbs/protein... I have been eating a lot of cheese (I love it so!) and if I cut back on the cheese that will cut the fat and protein. I also need to eat more veggies... I never was huge on veggies and they slowly sneak back out of my diet... I knew she was going to tell me that so I already stocked up on some!! I asked about eating more because I was working out so much (as a few people suggested)... and mentioned how people said they were eating 1200-1500 calories around this point out... she said my surgeon only bypasses 100-110cm of the intestines on his patients so eventually to maintain I will be eating around 1100 calories. I also asked about metabolism testing and she said to wait until I was done losing to go... she said its a great tool and there was an excellent place in the area that does it and customizes it completely to you. She also said after my workout in the evening I needed to eat a "recovery carb" so basically I need some sort of carbs with dinner... she said to ask my trainer about this and he could explain more... soooo Im going to research recover carbs today. Oh... I asked if the SF popscicles counted since they have 4g carbs and she thought that was pretty funny... of course the answer was no Hopefully I will be posting soon with some good weightloss at the scale!

Topic: RE: Sugar?
I can not tolerate much sugar, 3 bites can make me sick with a headache. But it seems to be refined white sugar. I can tolerate honey and natural sugars, like wine, and artifical sugars depending on what type is used. Milk was a big issue but I think I will eventually tolerate milk without a problem. I buy the Carb Count Down milk drink just to be safe, but can tolerate a small amount of sf ice cream. I too, like the idea of not being able to eat sugar. I even told my surgeon to fix my guts so I would dump! I have had no problem finding wonderful sugar free products such as homemade apple pies from a local restaurant to fill an occasional craving. Sugar is what helped get my obese to begin with. so I thank God I can not tolerate it now!! Dana

Topic: RE: My plastic surgery woes (long)
Hi Lori- Sounds like lots of waiting. That is hard. I agree with just wanting the stomach skin gone and not worrying how pretty it is. It will be covered by clothes anyway right? I had my 1 year appt today and they offered to refer me to plastics. I was kind of disappointed because I was not expecting them to say that. I will lose my Kaiser insurance at the end of the month so there is not time to do it. But truthfully I am not ready yet anyway. I want to lose 30lbs more so should not be having PS now anyway. So now I am telling myself when I am ready for PS I will just get a job at Kaiser so I can get the PS. Once I have Kaiser insurance again I can get the PS. Michelle

Topic: RE: Checking in
Hey Michelle, Keep up the great work. Hiking boots on the treadmill, the visual is pretty funny. I am down 131, with a huge slow down in the past few months of course. Same story as always, I could be making better food choices most days, and that would speed things up. However, overall my eating habits are much improved from pre-surgery. I do find that I am hngry all the time now and back to thinking about (?obsessing about) food again. I am planning on the breast lift, hopefully this winter, and then a panni or tummy tuck. If I just go for the panni, I am going back to my wls surgeon, and will hopefully be covered. Otherwise, I need to start saving the money and I'll get a tummy tuck with an anchor incision. If I win the lottery, I'll do something with my turkey neck. My legs are bad right by the thigh crease, but otherwise I can overlook that area. My martial arts training is still going well. I started coaching my son's soccer team and feeling better all the time. I do have days though where I am soooooo tired and dizzy. I'll get that checked out tomorrow at the doc. It's great to hear updates from everyone. Lori

I want my neck and arms fixed. Oh, but it hurts so! Maybe, I just am a big baby? LOL Don't answer that one! Do you know what my sweet hubby said? This was on day 3 post-op. After being under for 12 hours from my surgery. He says, 'you need a butt lift!' I burst into tears! LOL I can laugh about this now, but I was feeling so sorry for myself and hurting I couldn't take it! How do people do more than 2 things? I still can't get out of my recliner without help. Thank goodness for my rotten hubby! ;) I love that man! Robin
