I had surgery in June as well... as of today I am down 49lbs with 51lbs to go! Not everybodies "honeymoon period" is the same... usually the first 6 months have the highest weight loss and then will slow down. I would definately call you NUT... I had a f/u with mine at 3 months and will see her again at 6 months out. I am to eat 800-1000 calories with 60-80g protein. Not sure of which surgery you had but you may want to check that out. I would say maybe lower the calories some, see if you can up the protein for a few weeks and make sure you are getting in all the water you can!!

Hi Romey, I am not a fast loser either. I get on the scales and it stays the same or goes up before it goes down. The waiting is hard but finally they move down and makes your world "right" again. Congrats on the 57 pounds.

I too have slowed down, though I have 3 more pounds to go to make my total loss 100 pounds. I also went through a period last month where I was the same weight for 5 weeks! My hair is falling out by the handfulls! I just go on as normal, washing and blowing it dry every morning. I can't be too concerned (I HAD a lot of hair) yet, the weight loss is more important then the hair loss at this time. So far I eat pretty healthy, take all my vitamins, drink all my water plus more. The only thing I suck at is the excerise!!! I hated it when I was fat and I hate it now. I know I have to get out there and do it, walk or something. I haven't gone to the doctors since my one month check up! They said they would make me an appointment and let me know and I've never heard from them again. I guess I'd better call them. I think we all just lose at different rates and really just have to be careful to eat the protein first and not so many carbs. I find my self eating a lot of yogurt and nuts and jerkey and apples with peanut butter on them. I try to eat anything with protein and then if there's any room for anything else....I too find I can eat more then before. I think that's normal. Hang in there Ladies, it will come off...You might even want to ask your nut about the food your eating, or try fitday.com it's great for keeping record of what you eat. Keep us posted and keep up the good work!

I agree with what others have said. What surgery did you have and what was your starting weight? I've heard lap bads start off slower as do lightweights. Other than that, 57 pounds is an awesome weight loss for 5 months! Sounds like you are definitely building muscle - did you measure yourself in the beginning? I'm betting you are losing a ton of inches. If you didn't measure, how about your clothes -- are you losing sizes? Other than that, up your protein a bit more and make sure you are getting your water and vitamins in. Don't compare yourself to me - I average about 700-1200 calories. But I don't work out nearly as much as you (I'm impressed 45 minutes on the eliptical!).

Sounds like you are doing good. I've noticed a real slow down lately. I'll "play" with 3-5 pounds for several weeks. I've lost 16 pounds since my appoint on 9/20 so not much more than you. I don't think I've been all that good. I get my protein, water and vits in most days - I just am getting bored with the plain stuff so I've been eating whatever - and am getting higher carbs and calories.

Hi Kim, Right now I weigh 147 which is 75lbs down from surgery and 85 from pre-op. I'm wearing an 8 or 10 depending on the cut. My original goal was 140, but I'm feeling a little more ambitious now so I dropped my goal to 130. My weight loss has definitely slowed in the past few weeks, but I'm good with that because it gives me some time to get my head around it. I wouldn't worry about using 5lb weights. Even if it slows your lbs lost it will speed up your inches lost. Right now I'm using 15lb dumbells for bicep curls, and I use fairly high weights on the nautilous machines too. I have pictures on my profile and the difference between the 3 & 4 months pictures is only 11 lbs but the weight lifting made a big difference Carolyn
