Topic: RE: OT: My friend died.
My condolences. My best friend, my mother, died 4 years ago. We too knew she was going to die, but were sure she had the summer left - she was doing so well. Then she got up from the supper table and started to the bathroom. One week later, we said good-bye and buried her 4 days later on her anniversary, Feb. 10th. I still ache for her. There are times when I call her number, only to realize she is not there. My heart aches for you - I can imagine how much you hurt. At least you were able to be with her when she took her last breath. Love and best wishes. LOL

My best friend of twenty years died yesterday. We thought she had another month or so but she decided otherwise. I was with her and stroked her hair as she took her last breath. I don't know quite what I will do without her.

1) What music gets your foot tappin' even when you are in a bad mood? I love Classic Rock!
2) If you could meet someone famous who would it be and why? This is hard! I am not sure that I would want to come face to face with someone famous that I idolize! I am WAY TOO shy.
3) What WAS your highest clothing size? 26
4) When do you decorate for the holidays? The day after Thanksgiving.
5) If you could get just one thing for the holidays this year, what would it be? Counter tops in my kitchen... Actually I am getting Corian countertops, but they are a dream gift for me!

Thanks everyone for responding!
I am physically not able to eat the proportions that I used to. However, I have found ways to eat around my pouch. Why I would do that is beyond me! I have never drank with a meal. I sometimes will eat my carbs first. The reason for this is pretty lame. If I eat my protein first I will hardly ever have room for more than a few bites of carbs. That sounds bad even as I type it. I wish my fat mind would take a hike!

I have lost 46 since 06-06-06......you are doing awesome!! What type of surgery? I was banded.
Topic: RE: diets
We had surgery the same day and that is a concern of mine as well. I think the more important thing during this 'honeymoon stage' is starting to develop your eating habits so you will have a basis when the weight loss slows. My NUT stressed the importance of having set meal and snack times and sticking to them as well as staying away from grazing!! I guess the biggest thing is not falling into old habits. Post-op we are all gung-ho then over time we seem to lose that. I know at 5 months out I have to sometimes step back and look at what I am eating and keep away from the junk. I use to be a fan of weigh****chers... but now that more research has come out speaking against "fake foods" Im wondering how great weigh****chers really is. I picked up that book "You The Owners Manuel" by the Drs that are always on Oprah and it was very interesting. One thing they talk about is butter... real butter your body knows how to handle.. fake butter it doesnt know what it is or what to do with it... so in sense you are better eating real butter (in moderation of course!). One of the pushes of weigh****chers (not sure if the core plan is different or if its the regular ole plan) is buying low fat, fat free products (spray butter etc). If it will help you by going to the meetings and having to be checked on weekly I say go for it thou!

I'm right there with you, Robin. Once I lose all my weight, I'm planning to weigh myself weekly or whenever I've had a bit too much and switch back to liquid diet if I put on more than 2 pounds or my maintenance "weight". I am going to get rid of all the clothes that are even a tiny bit loose so as soon as I gain weight, I'll have nothing to wear. And then I'm not going out to buy more. One of the worse problems I had pre-surgery is if the clothes didn't fit, I'd just go buy more. No more!!!
Plus I'm going to keep up my Fit Day - just seeing it in print is a shocker. I've had some carb-happy days and I don't like to see my pie chart with too much blue.
It'll be a struggle for us every day, but it is something we can conquer!
