I have tried diet 7 up because it is almost flat when you open it. I tried Diet Sprite 0 but it was to fizzy. I don't drink diet coke anymore because of the Caffiene (sp)?

That was one of the 1st questions I had asked my surgeon also right before my surgery "when can I have diet coke?" He told me I could have it two weeks post op (if i did then- to only drink it flat) ... .Since then, he doesnt care at all...He has no issues with coke.... ALTHOUGH I was addicted to diet coke-was drinking maybe 6 or 7 a day preop - when I do drink one now, I can barely drink 1/2 a can....and I dont drink that to often...maybe a glass a week.... Its to carbonated for me... and then if i let it sit for awhile it taste to sweet...so I just stick to my tea normally! But I dont think it would hurt you if you want it! Its a personal choice!

That's question I asked my dr well before i had the surgery because I am a diet pepsi addict and my husband has worked for Pepsi for 17 years. He said Shannon if you can tolerate it there is no proof it stretches your pouch and you can have it if you want it. I am still addicted and drink it everyday. I have never had a problem with it. I can say that some dr's don't want their people drinking it but mine was fine with it. I think I can say it hasn't harmed me any because I have lost 175lbs more that I weigh right now and couldn't have done it if I hadn't had my one addiction. DIET PEPSI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! because I drink it when I feel like I want to stress it and it's like a little slice of heaven!
There's my take on it. I am sure there are diff. opinions out there.

I'd like to know also. It's been so long since I had a soda.
Any thoughts, has anyone been drinking sodas?

Hi all! I don't get on the site often enough, but here I am with a moment to spare. Okay, is anyone drinking any diet pop?? Any recomendations as to whether this stretches the stoma? I drink mostly water or flavored water and it is getting old! I drink a ton of it though! I was once a diet pepsi addict--won't go back there with the caffine and all, but a cold refreshing pop is calling me but I won't do anything if it risks stretching.
Topic: RE: What's everyone eating?
Kim,
I made the mistake of eating some "junk food" at a convention and didn't get sick so now I crave it. I am really having to fight the urge. I have been really stressed completing my Masters in Elementary Education and working with the SDRC. It has been a struggle. I need to get back to a food journal and also working out some. I understand that I am not eating like pre-surgery, but if I am not careful, it could be that bad. I just had all of my stats done - and everything looks great! My weight is great according to doc...I just need to get a mind set that says I am a skinny person and need to eat like a skinny person - not use food as a crutch.

I am having some problems lately too. I am totally stressed out right now, and I have been eating ravenously. I am to the point where I wonder if I have stretched my pouch, but realistically what I consider eating alot now and what I could eat before surgery is quite different. I think I need to just find some support and get back on track. I haven't been going to support groups lately because of my work schedule and lack of help from my husband with watching my son. It would really help if we posted what we ate each day (honestly not what we should have eaten).
Topic: RE: Anyone else hungry all the time?
I can definitely relate to what you are saying. I was ravenous for about 6 weeks straight, and was grazing an awful lot. I am still hungry all the time, but I feel a little more in control of it now. The only thing I think that I am doing differently, is that I upped my protein again, especially at breakfast. That seems to have helped. That has also helped a bit with my energy, which was pretty low. I am still anemic, but I don't feel like sleeping all day. I was getting to the point where I would go have a nap, just to avoid the call of the kitchen. Your depression will of course make you have less energy. A brisk walk (I know its hard to schedule it in) will help with your exercise level as well as your depression.
I am guessing (purely speculatively) that giving up is probably the easiest way to put on the pounds. At least if you still hold onto hope, you can always set yourself back on track. Good luck to you Kim, I certainly feel I can understand where you are coming from.

Hi, Kim! I have been BAD lately. Today I had a single serving of combos, 4 shrimp, some cucumbers with dip, fruit with sweet dip, a small brownie, a mini eclair (I was at a wedding shower), half a steak sub with cheese and mayo, and about 5 pieces of chocolate. Definately not one of my gold star days. I just got back from a trip to St. Louis for work, and we ate out for every meal, and I snacked a lot. I gained 2 pounds this week. I'm not really hungry... just falling back into old habits. Maybe we need to post on here what we're eating daily to help with some accountability and to get back on track. When I'm in control, I eat fiber cereal with fruit and milk for breakfast, usually a half a sandwich for lunch (turkey or pbj), and steak/chicken/hamburger... some type of protein and a vegetable for supper. I'm having a lot of trouble getting my water in, too! Boy, just rereading this post makes me think I need a lot of work! Let me know how things go for you and if you're interested in daily posting of our eating.

My hunger has barely returned... I only get truely hungry when I wait to long to eat. I am still struggling with head hunger. For the past 9 days I have been on vacation at my Aunts house and there is food EVERYWHERE... I have been *way* off track and eating eating eating just because its here... cant wait to get back home where I have more control! I am a bored/stress eater so I feel you there... I always have to work on managing my wanting to eat something and find another way to deal besides food. I also have low energy so I restored to drinking enviga (energy green tea) in the afternoons to make it thru the day... my energy is better than it was but I still get tired in the afternoons at work.
