1.Are you shooting for your doctors goal weight or your own or are they the same?and how far do you have to go to reach it?
I had to force my doc to talk about goal weights last month. He's of the school of thought that it's up to you and what your body will allow. I'm shooting for 225 because that will make 300 pounds lost. Anything more than that is gravy.
2.What is the hardest part of your jouney that you are experiencing right now?
Head hunger. January - April are the months my wife is busiest at work. That means she's got a lot of late night meetings and will need to work after the kids are in bed. That means a lot of alone time for me which has usually meant I eat. I'm not going to do that this year, but it's going to be a struggle to be sure.
3.What excercise goals/times are you reaching for on a daily basis?
I'm working on mixing in weight resistance with cardio right now. I'm trying to get in 120 miles of cardio this month. I've got a spreadsheet and am leading a 50 mile/month challenge right now on the men's board. If anyone wants a copy of the spreadsheet lemme know.
4.Do you listin to music when you work out? if so what is your favorite song/cd's?
Anything upbeat that I can move to. I've got hip hop/rap/rock/folk/bluegrass on my exersice mix on the old iPod.
5.What are you going to do this year that you have never done before that you wanted to, but could not due to your weight?
My goal is to run in a 5K by this fall and to fly coach in an airplane without a seatbelt extender.
6.Do you ever regret having WLS?
Not even for a second.

2.What is the hardest part of your jouney that you are experiencing right now? I have been stuck at the same weight since the beginning of November and just this week lost 4 pounds. That has been awful, watching what I eat, excercising, playing with 4 pounds, today those 4 pounds are gone plus 4 more.
3.What excercise goals/times are you reaching for on a daily basis? I want to walk 3 miles in the am and pm
4.Do you listin to music when you work out? if so what is your favorite song/cd's? anything fast, I put my granddaughters MP3 in and listen to I dont know what....but the beat is fast lol.
5.What are you going to do this year that you have never done before that you wanted to, but could not due to your weight? go horseback riding, I have did that before but not in years. I would have broke down the horse. Go through caves, that are not far from me( Ky has several) I couldnt do it before because of my weight I couldnt walk that far. Enjoy life again, I have been letting it pass me by.
6,Do you ever regret having wls? I wish I had did this several years ago.

My doctor's goal was about 145 and I passed that at the end of October. My goal was 130 - 135 and I hit 135 two weeks ago. I'm now 133.
2.What is the hardest part of your jouney that you are experiencing right now?
Trying to find a way to maintain.
3.What excercise goals/times are you reaching for on a daily basis?
I work out 5 days a week now (I was told to cut back). I do 3 days of walking for an hour and 1/2 and 2 days of lifting with a trainer for an hour each time.
4.Do you listin to music when you work out? if so what is your favorite song/cd's?
When I walk alone (not often) I listen to my IPod. It's a very eclectic mix. My favorite walking music is Prince.

Topic: RE: Lightweights
my surgery was june30th and I have lost 97 lbs, been at a standstill for a couple of weeks. It has really slowed down now. good luck your doing great.
Topic: RE: June 07 get together!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm still losing, though slower. I'm about 133 now and still wearing a 4P though they're getting looser. I do snack because my surgeon wants me to get my calories up to about 1500 to 1700 to maintain my weight. So far I haven't been able to do that well. I've been slipping on my protein intake so I'm trying to concentrate on getting that up now.
Thanks for asking!
Carolyn

Hi Effi,
Just wanted to respond to your 'how you stop losing weight' comment. Yup.. it's about not filling the band. That's what gives us control over the weight loss. It's also 'hoped' that by that time we have learned more appropriate eating habits and portion sizes.
I'm down around 60lbs from 216lbs.

At 303, I wasn't a lightweight, but I still thought I would post and let you know how great I think you all are doing. If you think back, when was the last time you lost that much weight...EVER. I remember at 19 I lost 100 lbs, but did it through annorexia (sp) and bullimia. I also worked out excessively (5 days a week, 3-4 hours/day****pt it off for 3-4 years until I took fertility drugs to get pregnant...then I started gaining and gaining...
It feels good to see the 100's again. I started at my heaviest weight of 312-316, last Christmas. Was at 308 at first consultation with doc, 303 on surgery. I am now around 197...feels great. Loss has slowed down, but I am not working out like I should, and water is sooooo hard for me to get in. I am working really hard to do things right this time.
CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN....
