Topic: Im overweight!!!!!!!!!!
As of this morning my BMI is now 29.8 so I am officialy overweight
exciting stuff! I am now down 62lbs and have 40 more to reach my goal!!!
Also this morning I was able to fit into a size 14 pants that I havent worn in YEARS! Over jus tthe past 2 weeks clothes I wore over Xmas are getting to big... I am cleaning out my closet again!!! Its of course a good thing but I have now run thru all of my "skinny clothes" and am going into uncharted territory when it comes to shopping!! I tried a pair of American Eagle 14/15 jeans on Saturday and thought nooooo way... and guess what? They were a little baggy!
Hope all you other June babies are doing well! I look forward to what the next few months bring. I have found that counting carbs is key for me. At a support group in Nov the NUT mentioned it there... my NUT never said anything so I hadnt been keeping track. I started in December and in one week lost 5lbs - thats was my best week... I went on vacation for 2 weeks in Dec so I just maintained the rest of the month. This week I lost 5lbs so its my 2nd best week ever. I am going to work hard to make Jan my best weight loss month yet... I am aiming for 15lbs total loss this month so wish me luck!

Topic: RE: I am now at a 7 week stall.
I havent had a stall... but I did slow down to a snails pace. In Nov I lost 1lb... 1lb!!! Over the month the scale kept going up and down each week... down 3lbs up to 2lbs etc. I went to a support group and the NUT there mentioned we should be having a max of 60g carbs a day. My NUT never said anything about carbs. When I got home I looked over and I was eating over 100g carbs each day easy! The first two weeks of Dec I cut back carbs to between 30-60 and lost 5lbs... I was on vacation the next two weeks so I wasnt keeping the best track. This month Ive been watching carbs and lost 4lbs already! Ive averaged 1-2lbs a week so this is even better than when I was first out!! This month may end up being my biggest losing month yet if I average around 4 lbs a week! Anyways... thats just my experience but its something to look at. You may want to up your calories some as well. My NUT reccomends between 800-1000 at this point. If you up a little that could kick start your metabolism. Also are you eatin a variety of foods or the same thing ever day? Are you getting fruits/veggies?? How bout fat? Fiber?? Mixing up your diet should help
If after trying some changes you are still stalled I would call your NUT and see what they say

Stefanie.
I would bet that 700 calories is not enough for you to be eating. Try upping it to 900-1000 and keep on the exercise and see if that gets the scale moving. I know we've been conditioned to eat less to weigh less, but 700 calories is probably putting your body into shutdown mode where it's going to hold onto every calorie it can get. Talk to your nutritionist.
Also make sure 40-50% of your calories are coming from protein. I keep track of what I eat at fitday.com and have found it to be a useful tool for keeping track of protein, fat, and carbs.
Good luck!

Are you exercising? You may need to step up the exercise -- even if you are doing some. Other than that, I've heard you can go back to the basics. There is a plateau busting diet floating around on the message boards. You should find it if you do a search. Good luck. Stalling is no fun!

1.Are you shooting for your doctors goal weight or your own or are they the same?and how far do you have to go to reach it?
My doctor really didn't set a goal. Mine was 150 and he was okay with that. I might want to go further, depends on what my body says.
2.What is the hardest part of your jouney that you are experiencing right now?
grazing carbs for me too.
3.What excercise goals/times are you reaching for on a daily basis?
I try to walk the dogs daily around the rentention pond at least once daily during the week and up to 4 times on weekends. Working out at the gym with the weights three times a week.
4.Do you listin to music when you work out? if so what is your favorite song/cd's?
no - I don't own an MP3 or Ipod.
5.What are you going to do this year that you have never done before that you wanted to, but could not due to your weight?
Skiing in March. Hope I'm ready!

Hi. I had my surgery 2 weeks before you and I have been stalled for over 6 weeks. It is starting to scare me also. I started at 275 and I now weigh 213. So you see, I have only lost a total of 62 lbs. I haven't been exercising at all. I do really well on the water. I do a shake early in the morning. I usually have breakfast around 9:30 A.M. like for breakfast this morning I had left over meatloaf. My portions seem to be the right amount. I have noticed though, I am really starting to crave sweets! Last night before bed I had 3 marshmellow and chocolate on a cookie base, cookies. It seems that daily I am making some bad choices. These bad choices are probably not enough to make me gain weight but enough to make me stop losing. I keep thinking that I should just go on liquids for some time to kick start the loss, but can't seem to commit to it. I can say that during the holidays I pretty much ate what I wanted but at smaller qaunities then I would have done pre-op. I'm only hoping that is the reason for this long stall. I wish you all the luck in the world that you start losing again soon. And I will keep up with this post to see what you get in responses. Paula

Hi Jeanna,
Thanks for kicking us off in the New Year.
1.Are you shooting for your doctors goal weight or your own or are they the same?and how far do you have to go to reach it?
My doc didn't set a goal weight. So I am shooting for 140, and have 29 pounds to go. I would be thrilled to get lower though. I haven't been below 165 as an adult, 4 pounds from uncharted territory!
2.What is the hardest part of your jouney that you are experiencing right now?
Grazing carbs as well. I also have had more energy to bake, which is a no-no for me. I eat the batter. I ate 2 buns worth of bread dough the other day.
3.What excercise goals/times are you reaching for on a daily basis?
I am still doing 2 hours of karate twice weekly. On work days, I usually walk to main street, which is only about a 3/4 mile round trip. I am mostly a slug on days off, unless we get into the nearest city to do some shopping or something. Keeping the woodstove happy keeps me a little bit busy.
4.Do you listin to music when you work out? if so what is your favorite song/cd's?
I don't listen to music so far, but I would really like to start jogging, and I will probably take my mp3 for that. I like the 70s stuff as well, but I don't mind some pop and R&B stuff mixed in.
5.What are you going to do this year that you have never done before that you wanted to, but could not due to your weight?
I want to ski or snowboard. I haven't skied in at least 15 years. I just don't have anyone to go with.
6.Do you ever regret having WLS?
Never have. I wish I had done it in my 30s.
Happy New Year to you all.
Lori

Does this mean that I am done losing? I have lost about 70 pounds and have not lost now for at least 7 weeks. My starting weight was 295. At my 6 month appointment, I was 225 (according to their scale). My scale says 211. Anyway, I have not lost anymore weight. I had my labs drawn and everything is perfect. Right where it needs to be and they told me to keep doing what I am doing. However, I am getting very discouraged... I increased my water intake and am getting in all of my protein. I am averaging about 700 calories per day.
Any ideas on what I can do to jump start my weight loss again? I hope this is not the end of my loosing.

1.Are you shooting for your doctors goal weight or your own or are they the same?and how far do you have to go to reach it?
My goal weight is 145. My doctor said it just depends where my body stops. It could be 160 according to him.
2.What is the hardest part of your jouney that you are experiencing right now?
I am also having problems with grazing and carbs, so I cleaned house and got rid of the crackers that I was getting into.
3.What excercise goals/times are you reaching for on a daily basis?
I do 30 min. on the treadmill every morning, weight training 3 times per week and plan to start attending some cardio classes in the evenings that I don't weight train.
4.Do you listin to music when you work out? if so what is your favorite song/cd's?
I watch TV while working out - usually the morning news.
5.What are you going to do this year that you have never done before that you wanted to, but could not due to your weight?
I would love to wear a bikini or even a tankini this summer.
6.Do you ever regret having WLS?
Never.
